parking brake issue
Anyone have a problem w/ their parking brake/ foot brake. I have to use my pretty often since it is a manual trans car (would not have it any other way). So this is the 4th time I am having this brake sink to the floor w/ minimal tension on the brake. It was explained to me that this is set up like a "Y" and one side was disconnected. The second time I brought it in the service Rep explained to me that it was NOT installed properly. Im going on visit number 4 Monday/Tuesday....a manager I spoke to told me to come on Monday BUT I KNOW THAT IS A HOLIDAY and I am aware I will be disappointed (service will most likely be closed).

Just a hunch.....
When you put on new wheels did you use the correct length bolts? If they are too long they stick inside the parking brake drum and hit the mechanism...maybe disconnecting the cable?

They'll probably cover it again under warranty. Repairs also have a warranty. Just curious.....do you push hard on the parking brake pedal? One of the things that annoys me about the C parking brake is the movement after it's set. Not much, maybe 6 inches, but the car still moves. I was told this is 'normal' when I complained that it takes some movement for it to 'lock'....which I think is BS (even if it is 'normal').

They are pretty good there if you want standard stuff done, don't ask 'em to do anything extra, the parts dept. guys are great though!

The car shouldn't move at all. No more than a little sway from compressing the springs.

ya, i had my car at massapequa ...the NEW place once. Too big for the staff they have. The service advisor jockey'd my car hehe.
This SUCKS though!!!!
I got my car back and had 2 bubbles in the sidewall (tire)!!! The person who dropped it off must have rubbed a curb...*******! the steering was all wobble'n and crap! NOTHING I CAN DO!!! they cracked a tail light on my car and they said we must have missed it when we checked it in (fracture...not shattered)
lil bummed about the situation but my brake works...only cost me a 130.oo tire (getting fixed today)

:Bump: My parking brake suddenly depresses to the floor w/o any tension.
Is it pretty safe to assume that this is the same issue as described by the OP?
If the cords attached to the Y were broken, could it affect my car knowing weather or not the parking brake is actually still engaged?

Additionally, it seems as though my parking brake is still engaged, so when I drive, it sounds like I'm braking all the time. It seems as though at least ONE side of my parking brake is working as if I park on an incline and use the parking brake, then release it, the car moves a tiny bit.
Could someone provide a diagram of how the parking brake works w/in the rotor? I have had the same wheel bolts forever and doubt the would have broken the parking brake mechanism back there, but one can never be too sure!
Thanks!
