Getting Options added?

Hey guys what are the changes that the dealer can put the sirius radio and navagation system in after i bought the car?
i didnt have the money for it at the time for the nav system and didnt want to wait the extra month for them to get my car in with the options...

so could the dealer put these two options in? i would expect the navi system to cost a little more but any idea about how much? thanks guys

All dealers "can" per-say. Most dealers won't. Get it done through Steve (MBenzNL).

I don't know which dealer in Jersey you got the car, but I'm sure most would do the work, I know Ray Cantina can be Expensive. Find a good, inexpensive foreign car shop, and than let me know their name
Good Luck Jkw

Really, Jkw? That's cool. Every single dealer I spoke with would not add OEM stuff to the car and the one's that said they could probably do it indicated that anything that would be done to change it from how it was prior would void warranty on that part of the car!

ok thanks for the reply guys... i got mine from david levy in freehold nj... im kicking myself that i didnt get those two options when i got the car... i know i can go aftermarket and stuff, but its just not the same... i dont want a different radio system in there and then to have a navi system sitting on the dash board wont look that great IMO... but i will call the dealership and see what they say.. thanks again

Don't waste your time calling the dealer. They will say something absurd like "it's not possible" or "It will void the warranty."

I had my navigation system retrofitted by Sammy of mbdoctor.com (out of Brooklyn, NY). He can put an Euro or US Spec Comand navigation in your car easily, as is pretty much plug-and-play. I love my Comand and could never survive without navigation again!

As to Sirius, I don't believe you can easily retrofit OEM Sirius in a 2006 c class. If you wanted it, you had to order it from the factory. Otherwise, the car does not come prewired for it, which makes retrofitting not impossible, but quite cumbersome, I imagine.

Enjoy your car.

I'm not sure about the Navigation system. I think that most dealers will not attempt this - it can be done though. Steve is your man.

I also don't know about the 2006 C class, but my 2005 came without the Sirius radio option. The dealer added it to the car in an afternoon. Very clean. I haven't had any problems with it.

It was a bit pricey for the option - after the fact. I should have ordered the car, but was in a crunch time wise.

Unless you're dealing with a cool, mod-friendly dealer (quite a rarity), forget about it. First off, they will tell you it cannot done, or something ridiculous to that effect. Even if they were to agree to the installation in principle, I'm sure they'll expect you to buy the Navigation system and all the other related parts (i.e., gps antenna) from the dealer's part department. Your jaw's going to hit the floor when you find out how much the parts dept. will quote you for a Comand unit... And that does not even take into account the labor charges.

If you're interested, here's a more detailed review of my Comand installation:

Take care.

i cant even get the mercedes-benz body shop to put on an updated bumper after an accident. leaves me little hope that a dealer would actually do the electronics.

Put it this way, the one of the dealerships I went to was almost gonna charge me for a fix on the malfunctioning lights on the gear indicator (near the shift knob) and the ash tray! They said, "has someone tampered with that area" because I put in the ash shift knob to match my interior (bought from Steve - MBenzNL). They said that regardless of whether this is an OEM sifter or not, the area was messed with and that caused the light to go out! They didn't end up charging me because my Service Advisor is awesome! He hooks me up (or tries his best to justify it to the mb technicians).
