2006 C-Class Navigation Version

Hey whats up All. Finally picked up the new car with my GF this morning and was a little suprised with the Nav Version. The disc version that came with the car was 2004.1, I told him I believe there must be a newer version. I could be wrong, however I'm already up to 2005.3 in my CLS500. If someone could just let me know if this is the most current disc I would greatly appreciate it.

The C class one is only for the C and the CLK. It says for 2005 models on the disc, version 2004.1. I just need someone to check there version printed on the disc label.

My 06 C280's nav disc says 2004.1 as the version - the DVD case says MY 05 C-class and CLK-class (but the fine print on the back says copyright NavTeq 2004 -- there's your giveaway.

Here's the big question - how important is it to have the up to date maps? Well, I'll tell you this much - my only problem is that my newly constructed house from '01 is not on the map -- so it things I'm offroading when I go home ... yay 4matic?

the up to date maps will give updated street info (if new ones are built, or under construction), updated business info including (including up to date phones numbers and location should they move or go out of business). i dont think its necessary to update every year, but i would everyother year.

Yea this is very hard for me to accept since there were missing streets in her nav that were finally updated in my 2004.2 disc for my e500. Since I've had the last 2 cars w211/c219 I've always went to the dealership with my laptop and grabbed a new disk and ripped the image. Now each update there are a ton more POI, not to mention newstreets and there always developing down here so It comes in handy. What really suprises me is the Nav disk for the E/CLS/CL is only around a gig or so in size and the C/CLK nav disk is around 7gigs forcing me to use a Dual Layer disc to run it in the C. So everyone with a 2006 C class is running the 2004.1 disc?? What if you picked up an 05, got the same 2004.1 disc last year and signed up for navupdate? Would you have gotten nothing in the past 2 years?

btw> the current nav disk version im running for our other car is 2005.3

I don't even know what version I'm currently using since my NAV DVD is a ripped version that Steve gave me when I got the Comand 6 months ago. Is there a way to check somewhere? All I know is that it's missing so many street names and POIs, it's not even funny anymore. On most suburbs or developing subdivisions, I'm always "offroad".

This is exactly what Im talking about here, this is horse****. I wouldnt have got the navi option if they never plan on updating there disks. I've been through like 5 discs in the past 3 years with my last 2 cars and there the same Mercedes DVD from Navteq just for w211/c219. I cannot imagine why a disk with 6 times the data of the w211/c219 disk is missing so many streets, I dont think the addition of searching by phone numbers takes up the other 5gigs.

My C350 boat is due in a couple weeks. If I find a 2004 version of the DVD there will be a very firm letter going out to MBUSA. Data on a 2004.1 has to be at least 1 1/2 years old.

it's a sssshhhhhh secret....

my SA gives me free CD Nav updates for my COMAND,
and last year he gave me the DVD one by mistake.
I told him it was the DVD version, and told me to keep it or sell it on eBay.
So i posted here in the classifieds, and someone bought it.
Not sure how much they sell for, but i think $40 was a good deal.
Threw in the Hot Wheels SLK for free !

yea yea cracka...

Im really dissapointed that for the c/clk there almost 2 years behind in the data. So I assume this is the same disc that came with the first 2005 models last year? Has anyone heard anything about an update anytime soon, I mean theres alot of roads missing.

I just called NAVTEQ (1-866-624-2627) and they said the newest NAV DVD version for the C-class is 2005.1, which was released this past August. The price is $275 + shipping or you can get it from the dealer. But the funny thing is...I was at the dealer this morning and asked them about it. The SA had no idea what's out there and referred me to the parts department. Again, the parts people had no clue either. Also, NAVTEQ stopped their yearly subscription plan.

Anybody out there who got a copy already...and willing to burn me a copy? I'll pay.

yea I would really like a copy of this myself. I guess we pretty much need to locate the 2005.1 w203 dvd part number and go from there. I really want to find this out soon so I can request a disk for the new car.

my dealer was as shocked as me to see a 2004.1 disk, but thats what came with the car. He did tell me though that if there was a newer disk he would give it to me free of charge. I just need the part number for this august 2005.1 disk.
