Why Should I Buy An Ipod Intergration Kit And Go Thru The Hassle ???????
Why should I spend $300 for this kit, plus labor installing this. I can even do this simpler. The old fashion tape to cd plug. I just plug it into the ipod and put it in the cassete player and my ipod will play. Isnt that easy guys ? How much does this cost less than $9. That kit is a waste of money. Thats my opinion.

You get what you pay for. Cassette frequency response and sound quality is terrible, not to mention you have wires all over the place. If you don't mind the poor sound quality and just want the cheapest solution then by all means, go ahead and spend $9, but IMNTBHO it's definitely worth it for a direct line in connection, the ability to charge the battery, and control the iPod with the factory controls.

just me, but why half ***, when you can get it done right, and have control through the steering wheel controls. i wish i could get the iPod integration kit for my 2003.

I second that -- I love my ipod integration kit. Being able to control the tracks, playlists, even fast forward and rewind from the steering wheel controls -- well worth the money in my book!
Don't do the tape input method -- does not compare sound quality-wise.

I don't understand why people get all excited about an Ipod. Reminds me of Web TV and a first class flight without caviar. Who needs it? There are other products that are more feature rich, and cost less.

I use a tape apaptor with my ipod. The sound quality is actually pretty impressive considering it's through a tape but i know it could be better. Plus i would love to be able to use the steering wheel controls and have the in-dash screen display the current song playing and etc.

play my ipod
I have been looking for this for a while now. I cant make up my mind.
I have a 2002 C240, and an Ipod 20gig. I want the best i can get for about $250 or less. Aux would be nice, but i would like to charge it too, and i dont want a whole lot of wires.
I was looking at that Ice>link thing but i dont know about it too much.
I just got my car last tuesday. Could you guys help me out?
what do you think is the best route to go?????

Wouldn't it be cheaper just to use the headphones? I use the Aux-in on my Comand but you can modify the cassette radio to do that. I still have the steering wheel controls for volume and I put mine in shuffle mode anyway and touch the pad to bypass songs.

Sure but for which iPod? I just got the iPod Video in black, it looks and works great. The only hassle is they don't support the common video formats like mpg or avi, they support mov and mp4 but the converter I found throws the sound off by a second or so it's out of sync with the video.

mpg, avi, mov, mpg4 remind me of the beta-VHS war. Your sound sync problem might be caused by the "sound reader delay" feature of mpg4. This is to compensate for the different positions of sound readers on film scanners. Your converter might have a delay set to a value other than zero for encoding the sound track.

The iPod AUX DIY thing is what i did and it's awesome. sound is awesome. $300 just to play my iPod isnt worth my money, even if you can use the steering controls to skim through your music. i set up a mount so that my iPod is easily accessable for me to skim through while i drive. i enjoy it.
