Fair market value for 2004.5 C230SS....

I have been in the market for one of these for the past couple months, I am now seriously considering one from a private party with following spec.,

2004.5 C230SS
33k close to 34k miles
Black Opal
Black leather
Bi-Xenon w/washer
CD-Changer
Moon roof
and Other fairly standard stuff like 1/2 power seat, cassette radio and rear shade. No mod at all.

Tires still has good threads on them, rims are in good condition, a small curb rash scratch on the lower right side of the front bumper and some light scratches on the roof (probably caused by automatic car wash).

Owner originally advertise it for $25k then dropped it to $23.9K after couple weeks.
KBB has retail value of $24,385 (w/o Bi-Xenon)
KBB private party value $21,515 excellent (w/o Bi-Xenon)
KBB trade-in value $18,800 excellent (w/o Bi-Xenon)

I offered $21k and he countered $22.5k. What do you guys think? What is the fair market value for this car?

$22,500 sounds like a fair offer to me, especially with the specs it has! I'd say counter his offer with 22K and see what he says! Sounds like a very nice car. Hope everything works out for the best!

I think the mileage is about right for cars in california. This could be a 2 years old car and I think $22k is not bad either.

Yes the mileage is a bit on the high side; my '04 E500 only has less than 23k miles on it since Jan. 04.

But that's fine with me since it's mostly for my wife and she doesn't drive much (less than 5k a year). So to me it's kind of waste of money if I get her a new one because when the warranty expires after four year the car will only have 20k miles on the clock and I don't plan on keep it after warranty is up.

Edmunds appraisal

Edmunds shows $20,721 trade-in, $22,160 private party and $24,898 retail for outstanding condition.

Clean condition is $20,037 trade-in, $21,466 private party and $24,109 retail.

Both with Bi-Xenon and rain sensing wiper option factored in. Does a C230SS comes standard with rain sensing wiper? The owner is not sure of it.

The rain sensing wiper is part of the sunroof package.

Just out of curiosity, what year did you select on Edmunds? 2004 or 2005?

2004.5 C 230
A '04.5 Should have, New Rims along w/ larger Front brakes, different steering wheel, than an '04. This could add to price.
If it has Sunroof it should have Auto wipers.
Price sounds fair, get it checked by a mechanic.

As far as Milage go's I have 35,000+ on my 18 month old '04.5 ,Runs Nice.
Good Luck Jkw
