Brake lining wear

I had my Porterfield R4-S Pads installed, with Brembo rotors in the front, and Balo Motortex rotors in the rear, I taped the sensors like someone had said, but i'm still getting the malfunction, however, unlike before when i clear it, it won't pop back up. So how do i reset this thing!!! I don't want to go to the dealer for it ya'know! help please!

Make sure the sensor wires are plugged in. You shouldn't get a wear light unless you are using a sensor from a worn set of brakes and the sensor has been tripped.

Short out the sensor with a piece of wire from one contact to the other. The sensor 'trips' when the wire is broken on the factory pads.

one sensor was broken... i took a trip to the dealer and bought two just in case so i wouldn't have to go back... do you have to replace sensors if they've been tripped? i'll change the one i haven't changed but if it doesn't work what then?

i found out through a benz tech that if the sensor has been tripped you have to replace the sensor, so that should work... haven't done it yet, b/c i'm lazy, but will soon... also i'll put up a pic of the rotors so you guys can see how they look. thank again

not too difficult... if you are familiar with doing a brake job, it's pretty much the same thing... just go the extra step of taking a screw out of the stock rotor and putting the other one in

They look great. I assume they are 13" slotted replacements of the originals. How are they performing? Any improvement, noise issues? Are you changing the Calipers also.

Did you get them local or on-line? If on-line where?

Sorry for all the questions. But once I complete the Kleemann Pulley and suspension upgrades I will be looking to improve the brakes. I want to keep the stock C7 17” Wheels so your solution looks like an option for me.

Do you know that anybody make a crossdrilled front and rear rotor for C240? I love the look of the crossdrilled rotor.

go to www.porterfield-brakes.com they have crossdrilled as well... i just prefer slotted... they perform well... but like any race pads you have to warm them up to really perform well... they smelled a little bad at first b/c it was all brand new but the smell is gone now, no noise, and i'm not changing the caliper.

If you decide on Portefield rotors and pads call Geoff at www.Speedtoys.com . They gave the forum a great deal about 6 months ago on Porterfield stuff, like 20-30% off.
