W203 very strange COMAND unit! Anyone seen it before?
Anyone seen this unit before? From what I can see it has more buttons, extra buttons than the normal one and also widescreen!!! What are the differences? Is it superior to the normal one? Anyone expert to identify it and comment on it? thank you

there are extra buttons:
2 extra above the volume knob
10 extra below the lcd screen
1 extra next to eject button
2 extra next to power button
TOTAL 25 EXTRA BUTTONS!!!
ALSO WIDESCREEN!!!
IT LOOKS LIKE AN UPRATED UNIT, POSSIBLY THE ULTIMATE UPGRADE FOR PRE-FACELIFT CARS!!!

My Japan Comand 2.0
I finally received my W203 Japan Comand 2.0 unit today...but I had an interesting surprise. I don't recognize several of the connections in the back of the unit and it came with a strange control unit/interface box. Check out the attached pictures. Any help from MBenzNL, Benzmods or Sunman would be appreciated. Maybe I'll ask Steve when he's going to "Surf City" or OC.

How much did it cost you?
Since you allready got the unit, keep up with the install and share with us the final result, this could be a very good mod for older models without dvd command

it is not a rare unit...I have at least 5 of those (new) somewhere in my stock collecting dust...
completely USELESS (unless you live in japan) - you can't even use it as a radio

I didn't pay much for it anyways. I was just hoping for the DVD Video and TV functions to work in conjunction with my current phone and VCS setup. I don't care about AM/FM radio or navigation since I already have XM sat radio, MP3 HD, and a TomTom go touch-nav. Any possibility that DVD or TV would work with aux input? Just wondering if it's worth the retrofit for just those aformentioned functions.

Just remove the "brain" and use the Mercedes front on a non-Mercedes system. Just junction the LCD display to something else. That would keep you busy till the snow melted (in 2010).
