What are Bi Xenons?

Essentially a movable plate creates the desired beam pattern. When the plate is raised, it produces a low beam light and when it is lowered it makes the high beam. The bulb used is a HID bulb so the color of the light is the same from low beam to high beam.
Bix provide much more light than a halogen using much less power. They are extremely bright and thus much safer for you during night time driving.

And is it even an option or is it standard equipment?
Bixens are an option on the W203. If you are in the US then you can get them pretty easily from Steve a.k.a. MBenzNL. I am assuming you are not in the US because W203s were not available in the US until 2002. If you are in UK or Australia, they are alot harder to come by becasue bixens for a right hand drive car (UK Spec) are in very short supply...and if you have a coupe then it is nearly impossible to get them.
