What made you decide to buy a C Class

I have really despied mercedes for most of my life. I mean I really coudn't stand them. Me and teh boys used to call C class cars 'Hyundai Benzes' cause there were just that: cheap wannabe mercedes. But a close friend of mine was in love with teh CLK and told me that I should look at the C class.

I was in teh market for a new car and altho i considered myself a Bimmer man I positively HATE what Chris Bangle has done to BMW's line. Each and every car is godawful IMHO. I was actually almost resigned to getting either an A4 2.0 quattro, A Volvo S40 T5 or a maxima (giid ppower but that torque steer is something terrible). Manuals of course

Did I mention I hate automatics and/or manumatics?

So on a whim I hit mbusa.com's website and found that the C class came in mauals also. A manual mercedes? WTF? Dealership is right around the block form my job so I popped in there one day. I told the salesman that I'm a simple man with simple pleasures: I need 3 pedals, black leather, black exterior and a sunroof. Anything else is secondary. I believe wood belongs in pencils and not cars, I don't need NAV cause I don't get lost, xenon does nothing for me. I do regret not getting heated seats or teh HK stero but that's ok - I'll probably upgrade teh speakers/amp later on anyway.

Would you believe the phukkers had the very car I wanted in stock? He asked me if I wanted to test drive it and I said no because I needed my partner-in-crime with me to help evaluate it (my 8 year old son). So the following saturday we went and test drove it. Da Boy liked it, I surprisingly liked it but I left after dropping off an application

2or 3 days passed and after ducking a coupe of calls, I passed by the dealership at lunch to see what they were talking about. 20 minutes later I was driving off with a "blue" MB. From time-2-tie I do regret not gettiong teh 350 but this lil 2.5 6 is pretty dayum peppy - I've gotten a coupe of notable kills (on ended a lil tragically for teh other driver...dumbazzz)

My Opinion

1. PRICE. BIG DISCOUNT ON C COUPE IN '03 with panosunroof.
2. HANDLING & SAFETY FEATURES. Plus free maintanance for four years.
3. ALTHOUGH I DID NOT KNOW IT AT THE TIME, GAS MILAGE. LOW 30s in the city.
Question. What dealer did you use in Maryland. How is the service?

to me it was the availability of a manual transmission. If it was not available, I would have gotten myself another bmw even though I don't like how the new 3 series and 5 series look. secondly, I really liked how the C-class sports sedans looked.

Because....

1. BMW didnt want to give me a discount on the 330
2. LEXUS GS300 was OVERPRIVED
3. MBUSA was doing a rebate
4. ALSO because the A4 was abt to "change style" which they did

Many of you have heard it before but the main reason I got da benz is -

1. free full service car washes
2. free maintenance
3. great pasteries (muffins, croixsants, pecan rolls) and coffee while waiting for free car wash and free maintenance
4. nice MB loaners for when service takes too long like service B

All that for a nice sedan with sunroof, 17" wheels, dual zone climate control, 8 airbags, ESP and leather (which I don't like but it's supposed to be a good thing) for $25K. When Honda can do that for me at that price I'll look at Hondas.

Please refrain from abusing the caps lock button. And make sure you dont come out to cali...where everyone is expected to have a benz...and at least the c class (seriously)

Too many to list
When the time came to buying a new car, it was either BMW or MB. I didn't want no Audi, Acura, Lexus, Infiniti, or any other brands. Thus, it came down to the C-class or 3-series (couldn't afford anything more than 40K)

1. Lower insurance rate than 3-series
2. Better gas mileage than 3-series
3. Looks gorgeous in sport trim compared to the banglized 3-series
4. C-class or not, it's still a mercedes

I actually bought it at HBL in Tysons Corner and since it is only 2 months old, it has only gone in once for the 3k initial service.

While most of you already had 3 series or C-class in mind, I had no intension of getting a C-class at first. I was actually looking at a Acura TSX or a Nissan Altima. But my dad doesn't like Japanese cars.....he's like for 2 grand more I'd rather be in a Mercedes. But I got my C230SS 6spd over the TSX and the Altima was mostly because of:

1. RWD
2. Good Manual transmission
3. Never owned a Mercedes before
4. Good stock suspension (stiffer and lower compared to the other two)
5. Better Gas mileage
6. Kompressor sounds cool

If I had to make my decision again, I'll probably look into a A4 1.8T Quattro w/ S-Line package. Since it's engine has more potential for upgrades and it has AWD. Down side is, Everyone else has one.

the e46 M3 doesn't come in a sedan, S4 was too old (2002 old model), sister's 00 CLK320 feels more luxurious than my 00 328Ci, non BS sales, my mom likes it more than the flash-gordon style M3, and many other reasons...

4matic works great in the snow

I see so many posts about everything other than 4matic.

I spend 6 to 7 months a year driving in snow. Everyone around here owns a Subaru wagon, but finding a nice Subaru wagon with a leather interior and features costs more than a c wagon.

"C" mode (comfort, I think it is called), doesn't give the car a chance to break traction easily, and if it does, ESP kicks in - combined with the ABS and Brake Assist - to rescue the situation.

When winter is over, I switch back to "S" mode (standard) and I can actually have acceleration again. Car is much smoother than other wagons and the breaking is amazing.

When I purchased my C-class in WI, that was not my first choice. My top choices were Nissan Maxima or Audi A4 1.8TQ. I have never considered the Bimmer because there are quite a few obnoxious Indonesian-Chinese kids in 3 coupes and sedans. My parents didn't like either one of them, and recommended Mercedes. So I went to MBUSA.com and priced a vehicle and found out that it's not as bad as I thought it was going to be. I scheduled a test drive and my wife (g/f back then) totally fell in love with the interior. Next we tried the Audi and I can definitely feel the difference in fit and finish in the C320, so I went with a C320WZ (sport sedan). I don't regret not getting 4MATIC or Quattro even though I lived in Wisconsin. Rear wheel drive plus all-seasons were more than enough to get through the worst storm.

Is it a smart-*** comment or are you just ignorant? All I said was to add it onto one of the many other threads... some people just don't seem to get it do they? The more b.s. threads you keep creating, the less efficient the search option is becoming. Try using it sometime and you will see how with each passing few months, it's becoming more difficult to use due to all the useless threads popping up. Then tell me "it's all in fun and games." Maybe we need a TOW thread in here just like they put in OT. Then I can be "'lax" and cool like you.

haha alright man...whatever, Im not going to argue with any fellow members. And I do use the search, and have found so many DIY's pics and general information that I hardly ever do start threads. Sure every no0b does it, as he did...but we dont have to be all high and mighty about it. So yeah im going to stay 'lax', enjoy my friday and SEARCH btw the forum for some info. on sways for my car. Peace
