carbon fiber console?
heres my plan:
pull out the aluminum console, fill in the bumps with body filler, sand it so that it is smooth, apply carbon fiber sheeting, and spray with lacquer many times.
The aluminum looks great, but i have always liked carbon fiber. While i'm working on it, i will try to make a custom dash kit for the head unit as well.
The question is- will this work and look presentable? Also does someone already make this to save me some time?

I'd rather keep my console finish the way it is. Since my exterior/interior pattern is silver/charcoal, the standard silver console matches it well. But it sounds like an interesting project. Keep us updated and let us know how it turns out.

actually, i'd like just smooth aluminum. no pattern or texture, no dimples.
i am hoping that someone comes out w/ such a kit for a reasonable price and that it could be a DIY job.
same for the cloth. just plain black twill would have been fine w/out the little silver checkmarks.

check this out
i was at my stereo installers shop to see if they will do it. They said it will take 4 hours of labor(times $60=$240) with a custom dash kit so that my head unit will be perfectly flush with the CF. Also, it is real woven, not like the painted sheets.
He also has a company that makes CF trim pieces for the w203. They go along the door, around the electric seat buttons, along the glove box, around the instrument cluster, and down the sides of the center console. I saw it in his car, looks really good. Whole kit installed is $350. I'll scan the pics for you guys.
So, i can get a complete custom CF interior for roughly $600, and not have to do anything, not bad.

are those the stickers that you apply with 3M double tapes? How do they last under the sun etc.

yes. I also want to change those little things. I like the center console but can't find a matching pattern for the door handles etc. Do you know where can I get them?

Yeah I am yet to try it. I will in the near future, but im oujt of money for now. I am skeptical of coovering the center console because my car is leasd, will it even come off without runing everything?

I've seen a ton of Legend 5 and Torasport kits on Audi's and VW's. They look fine when you're looking straight at the kit, but from the side... it's just plain ugly. The pieces are about 1/8" thick with double-sided sticky tape to attach to your dash/doors/whatever. If you can live with the fact that it's not a seamless dash when looked at the from the side, then get this kit. Otherwise, you'll be sorely disappointed when people see that it's material that's just stuck ontop of your existing dash.

I had the woodtrim.com dash kit on my old car. It was one of the few places that acutally used carbon fiber, not look alike. The kit stayed on for 3 years through NJ summer/winter without any problems. My dash came from the factory with it being a bit recessed (sp) from the console, so it seemed to fit natural when the kit was placed. As for the benz, I think it might stick out a bit. I am considering it, but only if I can find a real carbon fiber shift knob that I like first.

nice nice nice. I'm done with the exterior only has some lowering to do. Now I'm thinking about tricking out the interior a little. Btw, I idol your car.
