The same **** happened to my armrest, I haven't been over to the dealership yet to complain, but on the phone the service advisor seemed hesitant.

So far, the interior quality seems sub-par for a car of this price-range. My aluminum trim is dented everywhere, and my steering wheel is peeling. Plus, the car doens't stay clean; I think the material attracts dust or something b/c my other cars which get driven more never seem nearly as dirty.

I know what you mean about attracting dirt, but i think its natural for a dark car Try using Zaino, it has anti static properties that really seem to make a difference. Im with you on the dented alum trim. I dont know how it happened, but there is a tiny dent next to the shifter, dont think the dealer will help me here. But you should get a replacement armrest cover. I am. Tell them there are many others with the same problem. Gluck.

For those with wood trim Performance Products has a wood and leather armrest replacement that looks nice and says it is a perfect match to the color of your interior - and the wood is real laural wood to match the interior wood as well. I have no problem with my armrest but I like the setup they are selling enough to consider buying. It is not cheap, but if the dealer wont replace yours...you may want to consider this.
Anyone with the wood/leather installed I would love to see photos - (but not just a post of the performance products photo)
Thanks in advance,
John

Can someone with an '05 SS with a charcoal interior do me a favor please?

Hi, I was wondering if someone with a 05 C230K SS or C320 SS with a charcoal interior could do me a favor. Could you please run your hands down the side of the console, starting with where the rear a/c vents and center arm rest are going to the "gap" along the side where the a/c controls start? Does the feel change from "grainy" to "smooth"? It sounds really weird, but I need it b/c the idiot dealer decided to paint my console. And, I don't have time to go back to the dealer until friday. Thanks so much!

Here's my prior post with my story.

my armrest is currently peeling a bit. didnt start as soon as yours. maybe 6 months ago, but ive already bought a new 2004-up style armrest. my shift knob is peeling as well, that started about 4-6 months after i got the car. im replacing that with an 05 knob from an auto.

the peeling was a common issue. not out of control, but its been mentioned several times here. i would have had the center armrest replaced under warranty but i want the 2004 armrest with the UHI kit to make it easier to access the phone cradle.

hey mick1, just be glad that MB replaced the old leather wrapped shift knobs with the aluminium trimmed ones. they not only look better but wont peel!

the shift knob on the '05 feels pretty solid . I have racked up almost 900 mi now and lucky for me, everything is still okay. I hope it will stay that way

Mine is already peeled It happened about 4 months ago. I'll definitely tell the dealer to replace it under warranty. What's worst, this isn't the only part is peeling off... Does anybody have any official documentation from MB stating that this is a common problem. I want to be prepared just in case my deales gives me a hard time.

sweet dude! i love the manual trans. could be a bit smoother and i hear that they are for 05 but still al little notchy from 1-2.

victor20170, i dont have any official documentation regarding this. if the parts is under warranty i wouldnt suspect they give you a problem.

Discolored/Peeling Armrest... Anyone Else?

Hey guys,

I know there are posts regarding this, but I just need to restart this b/c I think I have an extraordinary circumstance. My armrest has been replaced close to four times already b/c it ALWAYS discolors and peels.

What is up with this? I'm getting tired of having it replaced. A lot of times, I wear long sleeve shirts or sweaters, so I don't think any lotion or sweat is touching this thing. My old w202 armrest NEVER did anything like this.

Here's a pic of what I'm talking about. This is getting really annoying.

Thanks!

wow nlpamg!, ur cars a 05 and the arm rest already getting fu*ked up!

Get the black leather cleaners and softeners and stuff and just clean ur car with that! keep one of those "BLACK MAGIC" or "ARMOR ALL" dashboard wipes in ur car, and just wipe ur whole dashboard whenever u have time, waiting for someone or whenever, but maybe you should bring the car back into the dealers and say

"WTF IS THIS $H!T!!!" and have them replace it!

I had mine replaced two months ago. Since then I stopped touching it and so far it has not peeled yet but who knows.

This is what it looked like when the dealer replaced it

Wow I am shocked to see that happening in an 05. Quality of the materials used is going down. I guess to keep cost of the car down to compete with other Jap cars.

Mine did the same thing and I had to have it replaced. The new one hasn't started peeling yet.
