lighting questions

okay, before i get flamed for not searching, i have been researching and seaching the forum since last monday to no avail!

car: 2005 C230K SS

question 1: are there any nor cal (Sac, SF, SJ) dealers that will set xenon to present? preferably for free? also on a side note any of them know how to do the norway alarm chirps?

Q2: my right front fog light is out... i went to replace it and noticed that there is just a brown and i think red wire haning, no harness to plug into the light, i put the wires into the back of the light and they worked until i went over a bump and fell out... is this something i should take the car in for under warrenty (it's a CPO, just bought a week ago)?

Q3: i have seen alot of posts about condensation in fog lights, well my left fog light not only has condensation but a freaking puddle of water in it, again warrenty issue?

thanks!

Alex

sometimes CPO is not really that "certified"

I had the same problem with my fog lights after I change the light with high intensity light. The plug pop right out from the bulb but it is probably because I did not push the plug all the way which when you hear or feel the snap of the plug is properly install to the bulb. It was an easy fix and so far it is good to go. About the condensation in the fog lights? well, I have not notice any from car but definetely that is a warranty issue that needs to be done. Anyway, let us know the progress of your car.

Questions 2 and 3 are warranty fixes that should be covered.

Question 1, this is what I would do. #1) Find the post that indicated the steps in DAS (i.e. Star Diagnose) to set the lighting for Xenon to Present (I would find the link for you, but I'm too busy to do that right now). Print out the steps on paper.

#2) When you have them repair the fog light situation, ask them to follow the steps you printed out to set the lighting for Xenon lights to present.

If they are going to charge you, don't pay anymore than Steve would charge you (if they say that there is a charge for doing that). No matter what, try and get them to do it without a charge.

thank everyone for the responses!

i am going for service friday for the fogs and when i am there i will bring up the xenon and norway, i have the links for the programing book marked on my home computer (see i have been searching )

i am dealing with Autobahn Motors in Belmont CA, about an hour and a half drive, not the closest dealer but it is where i bought the car, seems like the sales staff were really helpful and nice, but service staff dont seem to have their act together...well what's new?

thanks again!

Norway setting?...You mean Netherlands right? Are you trying to get the beep sound for your lock/unlock function? If you are, it's Netherlands setting not Norway. A lot of people got that confused.

okay...i went to the dealer (autobahn motors in belmont ca) they fixed the flooded fog light, and ordered a wire harness for the other (have to go back when it comes in)

my service ***(osiate) talked to the shop formen about setting xenon to present and changing the alarm to netherlands and that was a big NO, "we do not modify cars and will not take the risk of doing it to yours" blah blah blah... so back to my question are there any dealers that you all in nor cal have gone to that will do this? MB SF? Stead? MB Sac?

geeze, damn dealers...

Dude, Steve (MBenzNL) is coming to So-Cal in January/February. Schedule an appointment with him and have him activate the settings through Star Diagnose. It's not free, but hey, you could activate all the Star Diagnose functions you want for one price (i.e. alarm beep setting, gas volume, passive tire pressure sensor, etc...).
