You probably have a bigger issue, take it in and get it checked out, the warranty would cover any faulty harnesses if that is what it is.

go to your dealer, it may be covered under one of those TSB's... I know my licsense plate frame light was... good luck!

Have you been able to confirm that the rear center brake light (on the shelf) is OK? Sometimes the R and L bulbs get checked but the Center one gets overlooked because whoever's checking doesn't realize the center is supposed to light up when the brakes are applied.

Go to a different dealer. How hard is that?

Its a bad socket. The turn signals and frame lights are common problems.

Please provide a pic of this setup. All W203 sedans have it in the trunk lid and NOT on the shelf.

I've never noticed this "common problem" on my car. I did have a bulb out indicator twice, once at the dealer. In both cases, it was not due to a "bad socket," but due to... burned out bulbs. As Sailorite noted, you must check all bulbs in that circuit. For Brake lights, that includes the CHMSL (wherever located).

To answer your question, the reset occurs automatically once the defective bulb is replaced. There is no manual reset, to my knowledge.

I had this problem and I had to trouble shoot the problem. if the amps draw on the bulb is low you will get this message, I would Pick up new blubs and just start changing it. just change the bulb that the computer is telling you change play with it.... good luck

The CENTER brake light is NOT on the rear shelf - don't know what I was imagining. It's in the trunk lid of course. (Now I don't know whether it's a single bulb or a series of small bulbs, but every bulb must be OK to avoid the warning message).

There are many issues with harnesses with many years of C classes. Many of my bulb harnesses have been replaced over the years. Bottom line, take a warranted car in for inspection and let them figure it out. Buying bulbs and constantly changing them is not the answer.
