Mobil One

I went to pep boys and they didn't have it, they said they never heard of 0W-30 and asked what car I had and they were like that's why.
Ok back to oil.
0-40 M1 is what I run. But you can use other grades and brands according to the booklet supplied with the car...
So from what I gathered so far...since my dealer used a filter with part number 271-180-00-09 (non fleece) then dumped 8qts of Mobil 1 10W40 in there on my last oil change....then it is not too bad??
However, the preferred/recommend combo is a fleece filter (000 180 26 09) with 0w-40 correct?
Which effect pisses me off because they "sell" you on the you won't need another oil change for 12k miles, but then don't put in the parts to make that happen....sunza-byches!!!

I got the message to fill up 1qt by the next tank stop. Anyone know how much is left when this message shows up? Instrument cluster even after the elec. check jusy says fill it with 1 qt but doesnt tell me how much is remaining

Of particular interest is this information, contained within the link:
some oils which are not recommended:
Mobil 1 SuperSyn 0W-30 SL/SJ/CF A1/B1/A5 9.7 doesn't meet 229.1 nor ACEA A2 or A3
Mobil 1 SuperSyn 5W-30 SL/SJ/CF A1/B1/A5 9.8 doesn't meet 229.1 nor ACEA A2 or A3
Mobil 1 SuperSyn 10W-30 SL/SJ/CF A1/B1/A5 10.1 doesn't meet 229.1 nor ACEA A2 or A3
These 3 oils do not meet MB spec of > 3.5 cP for high temperature high shear strength.

An alternative option would be to utilize an oil that satifies the requirements defined by MB. For MY '98 through MY '04 vehicles, those require sheet 229.3 oils, but may use 229.5 oils, but those require the fleece filter. One oil that satisfies the MB 229.5 standard is Mobil1 0W-40.
