hehe...I think derAMG is trying to confirm whether North American spec W203 C-class sedans were electronically limited to a certain speed. It is well known that the AMG cars are all electronically limited to 155mph (250km/h)
I've read in some posts that the C240 and C320 (non-sport sedans) were electronically limited to 130mph (210km/h), mainly because the stock tires were H-rated.
Others claim that the sport sedans (like the C230K, C320) had a higher electronic limit because they came with tires with higher speed rating.
Anybody know for sure?

In the US, all the cars have some limit, depending on the model. In Europe, I don't know.
Most C240's are gonna struggle at 120...142 would require you to drive down a mountain pass, with a winter storm gale as your tailwind. 168HP only goes so far.
The M111 powered C230's will run to 149 in European trim, but in the US, the limiter kicks in around 130, the stronger cars will pull to 135 until the computer regains control. The newer M271 cars are starting to run out of steam at 130...regardless of the limiter.
I would expect the C320 and the new C's to have a similar limit.

hahaha, anyone have the answer?
All i could be sure is that i have around 300 rpm left to red zone when i am doing that speed. And i am not reading the digital display.
BTW, after 200 km/h (120mph), it feels stronger because thats where the powerband is. I was surprise it still have more room to go at 230km/h.
Hmmm... is there difference between American model and Canadian model except the dash are in KMs?
When i was doing that, there is no wind at all, almost no drag. Its quiet than usual.

The C240 is another with a bigger engine. The smaller V6 in the range is in fact now a 2597cc unit. Power output is 125 kW and torque of 240 Nm at 4500 revs is produced. The automatic does 0-100 in 9,5 seconds; top speed is 232; and fuel consumption of 10,7 l/100 km can be expected.

And are your listed cars your own or your parents?
I don't think i said anything wrong in my previous posts.
If you have nothing else to say but yawning, its better not to say sometimes. Indeed, i did appreciate your post before you make this last one.

Weve all seen this before. And many of us have driven the C240, or have enough experience with cars and engines to know that 160ponies in a heavy car isn't going to do the speeds you think it will.

Compares to my C32, it feels more quiet, perhaps it has thinner tyres, smaller engine, and fewer drag (C32 has AMG bodykit).
Don't get it wrong, it still feels very stable, i'm surprise a car in this size with all-season-tires. Its very impressed, like Cappa26 said
You have a C320 Sport with sticky, and you ain't doing more than 80 MPH? :p

I spun out on the freeway one rainy night on my bmw because one of the tires had blown (the tires were worn out but I had not replaced them). Since then, I don't trust myself and the car at high speeds. Nowadays, I would shift to sixth gear and flip on cruise control

Don't worry, Mercedes is much safer than BMW
But that must be a scary moment... i hope your speed isn't too significant and hope you are not injuried.
I've been driving M3 on the track... I thought the traction control was switched off, I just feels NO computer nannys at all, at last, i spun out... But don't get it wrong, I didn't turn off the DSC, their traction just comes in so late designed for performance in-mind... Its a true drivers car... but my driving skills just not good enough i guess...

Thanks derAMG. It sure was scary and happened so fast. I didn't hit anybody, thank God, but the car did jump the curb and did about $9000 worth of damages. I didn't suffer any injury so that was good. The insurance company is still charging me more for this incident and it's been about 3 years ago

OK, I did some "research" and found the following Vmax numbers for the following cars which have been/are available in the North American market. I think the numbers below are for Europe. In North America, there may be limiters which will prevent some of these speeds (not sure). These numbers are all for manual transmission cars.
Sport Coupes:
C230 Kompressor (2.3L 16valve supercharged): 240km/h
C230 Kompressor (1.8L 16valve supercharged): 240km/h
C230 (2.5L V6 24valve): 241km/h
C320 (3.2L V6 18valve): 248km/h
Sedans:
C240 (2.6L V6 18valve): 235km/h
C230 Kompressor (1.8L 16valve supercharged): 240km/h
C230 (2.5L V6 24valve): 243km/h
C320 (3.2L V6 18valve): 248km/h
C350 (3.5L V6 24valve): 250km/h
In other words, an unrestricted C240 CAN do 146mph. I'm not sure why some people find that hard to believe. It just takes a bit LONGER than the other cars which accelerate faster.
