I'm going to check the wiring later today, but I don't see why it should be any different from the LED to non-LED if the connectors are the same. Very strange.
My non-LED brake lamp does NOT stay on constantly like the bottom running lights. and yes the inner lamp is brighter than the other, but I did not do anything about it ! But I may try something and let you guys know later if works.

Ok, my wiring was kind of wrong. Everything is all good now. I also used the smaller bulbs for the inner running light and the light intensity matches. Thanks for everyone's help.

Here's a snip from a previous message I posted a while back...........

"Ok...so tonight I ran down to checkers. I purchased a pair of Sylvania bulbs #97. I replaced this for the outer lights and it looks much better. I took a look at the bulb I was replacing...and it was only a single filament.

Here's what it looks like now..."

Note... the picture is of my LED tails. I now have the regular bulb ones.. but the bottom running lights look exactly the same.... same light intensity.

okay, I'm reviving this old thread....How many of you have '05 SS and have the new S-Class non-led lights installed your cars. I'm debating on doing it and want the bottom running lights to stay on.

Any problems or error messages?

UPDATE: Spoke Alex @ Factor One Garage, and there's still no actual
"in the box" fix for the '05 models. So still gotta do the 7 into 6 pin conversion. I'm gonna see if I can get ekimpay & NO_WUR_E to help me with the install.

greetingz,
Please does anyone have a part no for this tool? I know it may be expensive but I'd like to find out!!! I have tried mailing Steve but not having much luck. I guess either he's got problems with his email or he's half way around the world modding Benzs!

I have a 2002 W203 and I want to change to the 2005 lights and get both running lights working while keeping the fog light function (btw we're talking about a UK RHD Car).

On the pre 2005 models only one running light comes on. I beleive that this is possible and may need the rear SAM updated using Star. I feel like I'm cloes to this; I have the new tails & thanks to NO_WUR_E I believe that I have a correct part no for the new 7 pin connector (to repalce my current 6 pin connector).

The final issues I need to resolve:

1. Get a part no for this contact pin tool to make the swap much easier and allow me to return to standard if I have any problems.

2. Confirm that these lights would work even without changing the setting for the number of running lights active from 1 to 2 within Star? (i.e. would they work like the standard lights with just one running light until I can get the SAM updated with Star)

3. Confirm if anyone with Star could change this setting or would they need to have a modified Star system?

I know Steve sells the 2005 appearance update pack (facelift lights) for the Sedans, does anyone have this on their cars yet?

Thanks in advance.....
