S-Class Lights from Factor One Garage

I spoke with Alex from Factor One Garage and he said he would be able to have an answer as early as this Friday to have a solution for 2005 C-Class with the 7 pin connector.

He said for me to check back with him on Friday. Yes, it'll work on '05 and up. We'll see!

why do you need to wait till friday when it is already known that one can SIMPLY order the 6pin taillight connectors from mercedes and just SIMPLY swap the connectors out without cutting, splicing or ruining ANY wiring?

to make it easy:

6pin taillight connector: 037 545 35 28 - you will need 2 of these and either a tool to take the contactpins out of your current connector OR a knife to cut the current connector up without ruining the contactpins...

greetingz,
thanks for the part number for the connector. however, what tool are you referring too and can you explain how to take out the contactpins out. Visual would help. Thanks!

greetingz,
Steve is the man!

I knew it was possible to retrofit it, but I was under the impression that wires had to be sliced/spliced. If all you need is to connect and disconnect, then cool! So this would work without any errors or problems?

we already sold several connectorsets with mercedes contactpin removal tool (which makes it a lot easier to swap the connectors) to people with S-class tails for 2005 and up 203s...the tool makes it possible to swap connectors within 5 minutes without ruining anything and makes it ease to swap back and forth whenever needed...the only downside is that that tool is not cheap.

I didn't even realize it was easier than splicing wires. There's the answer. Sombody keep this thread around for future reference.

So the day has finally come. I was checking my lights last night while taking out the trash. I just unlocked the car and sure enough there were some LED's that went out. Oh well. Time to buy the non-LED ones and try and fix these somehow. If I had known about factor one before I bought these, they would be covered under warranty, but...that's just how it goes.

At least the lights still work (somewhat), so I don't think it's a super urgent change. Just cosmetic ugliness for now.

Drex, yup, you're right. Now, I wonder how much this tool cost. Maybe we can get a group by going and then just pass it on. that probably wouldn't work though.

Has anyone had success with the non-LED tails? I re-wired my 2005 connector to fit the aftermarket LED ones. Everything worked fine until the LED's started burning out. I just recieved the non-LED tails, and when I plugged my connector in..... the inside running lamp on both sides does not go on, the brake light serves as a running light (I don't want that), and I have error messages galore on my MID. It says my running lights are not on (true), turn signals burnt out (untrue), and rear backup lights on (untrue). I forget what else it told me on my MID.

Also, when I put my turn signals on, it flashes really rapidly like there are bulbs burnt out... but in fact.. none are burnt out. *sigh* I should have just stuck with my stock lights huh?

EKY, did you use the pre '05 original mercedes benz connectors or did your "re-wire" it yourself? Maybe you're getting all those errors because you didn't use the connectors. Can anyone confirm that has done the retro-fit with the original Mercedes pre-'05 connectors that the lights work properly and free of errors.

he has the MB connectors...so at least he can go back to stock when he gets fed up by the "S-class" light problems...

Only thing is, I don't need it cuz I don't have an '05. My pics look confusing cuz I have the '05 blinkers and an '05 ash shift knob, but my front bumper still screems '04.5.

when you do the swap !

Trust, isn't it just a wire harness (connector) that you connect to the existing connectors for the '05? Perhaps some photos of your setup would better enlighten everyone else.

Also, what kind of exhaust do you have for the dual and is that just a black sticker on your bumper? Nice setup!

Thanks ! I have my local muffler shop custom made a dual tip system.$400 include one performance muffler and two tip and pipe make it work. spoiler is from my friends shop in Walnut,CA. Prepaint for easy installation. Its the C55 spoiler replicate.

benzo-boi:

On 2005 or 2006 come with 7 pin connectors, but the s class tail lights only fit pre-2005 w203 which come with 6 pin connectors. so you need to get two 6 pin connectors(No wire) from MB dealer, than you just swap those wires and pin from your stock 7 pin connector to the 6 pin connectors you got from dealer. Your stock right side 7 pin connector only have 6 wires on it(one does not use), so it will fit fine on 6 pin connector. But on left side your stock 7 pin connector does come with 7 wires, so I just swap all the wires except the one for fog lights( After installation, I try to switch on the rear fog lights and the left side brake lights turn on, I don't know if thats how stock rear fog lights turn on, but I got NO error message at all)

a little off topic, but I modified trust's exhaust to mimic more of the sl, clk look. What do you guys think? I lifted the pipes and added a bumper piece between the pipes.

Sorry, I don't have photoshop, had to reformat my computer, I used paint.

Does your brake lamp stay on constantly like the bottom running lights? Also, the inner lamp on the bottom is a lot brighter like the rear fog is on constantly. I replaced it with smaller bulbs and it worked fine until an error message appeared. Now it won't even light up at all. I'm going to check the wiring later today, but I don't see why it should be any different from the LED to non-LED if the connectors are the same. Very strange.
