Problems with tailgate (trunk) on coupe?
Do I have a problem with the tailgate (trunk) of my coupe?
I use the recessed slot to firmly throw the tailgate down. It appears shut. But on several occassions overr the last few days, I go to drive off and BEEP! warning on the dash that the rear end is not shut !!
Is it just a matter of getting used to it?

Actually, I have sometimes gotten the opposite result when "throwing" the trunk. It actually bounces back without latching! What I do on my coupe is just let gravity pull the lid closed, with minimal assistance. I'm not sure if this'll work on the sedans though.

two stages of shut
on my car it seems that there are two levels of shut(ness). if i just let the hatch fall it latches but not completely, i need to use a good deal of force to get it to fully latch down.

Huh, I find my trunk very easy to close. I also just let it close with gravity. Well, and a light push. It closes completely with a soft thud. I found it weird the first few times, it's so quiet it seems like it doesn't close but it's perfectly fine.

I used to have to SLAM the hatch shut or I would get a warning. I asked the dealer to fix it and they adjusted it so low, it was scraping paint. So I had to get a #30 Torx screwdrive and adjust it myself - took about 20-30 minutes of fiddling with to get it just right. Now it closes tight the first time(even with both windows closed) with gravity. You dealer may be competant enough for this task on your next service, but if not, give it a try yourself. PM me if you need help.

when i said "throw" i didn't mean very hard... i meant the action is like throwing it down. i don't have to pull very hard on it -- newton's laws are my friend.
