aaack! One Whiper not working!!

ok, I am beginning to despise my c230 Kompresor Coupe 2002 model!!

It was a freezing morning... went to whipe, and none of the whipers went, so obviously it must be iced over...
I loosen the driver side wiper, and then I go for the passenger.
the 2nd one was really iced on so I didn't wanna rip the rubber, so I left it.
I must've whiped only 4-5 strokes that whole drive, the next day, when all is melted and the weather a LOT better, I whipe and only my drivers side one whiped.
Went to check, and the passenger side whiper can now be moved freely with little resistance... Whereas the drivers side one is hard and cannot be budged unless I do it from the controls in the car...
Needless to say, my 2nd whiper doesn't work now!!..
Is it 2 independent motors, so motor 2 is burnt out?
or is it just a stripped nut or something simple??
thanks... How can mercedes not account for whiper obstructions?!?!
I swear any other car, that is 3-4 yrs old, this would not happen to...
And I say this, b/c this is one of MANY little things to go!!!

the way the passenger side wiper mounts is onto two seperate bolts i dont think its two motors, just two connections mounted to one motor. i may be wrong, im not a tech, just my guess.

u r right, one motor..
so far, I've had a bit of input, it is 1: A loose bolt (doubtful from what I saw)
2:
Gear stripped... approx $600 Fing dollars.
Pardon my french...
Im thinking of just tying a string to it, and pulling it when I need it!!!

there you go...why does one even use the wipers when one (or both) is frozen to the windshield (OR covered by loads of snow for that matter)...wipers are meant to move water out of sight - they are not suposed to move loads of weight OR be used half (either both wipers move or none moves).

Using your wipers while they are frozen to the windshield can result in a torn wiperblade (by far the cheapest damage) stripped gearing OR snapped wiperarms (not likely on a mercedes - way more common on other cars)...

greetingz,

greetingz,

Exactly. The damage is done by your ignorance.

Be glad MB chose to use a strong motor to keep at least one of your wiper running instead of burning out. Hopefully the gear attached to the motor side is ok so you just have to replace the wiperarm (Shouldn't cost $600). Remove the bolt and see it for yourself.

If you actually think it costs 600 bucks to fix that, you better tie a string to a lot of stuff. You can't run the wipers with one of them stuck to the glass.

there was no snow...
was wet overight.
temp drop, so drozen to windshield.
freed one wiper.
2nd was too frozen to free.
I did a TOTAL of 3-4 SINGLE WHIPES.
I dont think that is ignorant, and 2 were done initially without realizing whipers were frozen.
2 more after while driving, 1 to see if it freed yet with heat on windshield, 2 to clear a small obstruction on drivers side.
If u people consider this ignorance, wow....

Anyways, my luck, it was just a BOLT!
woohoo...
