Just stumbled across this, new handsets and cradles available.

Just test drove a new 3 series and tested the Bluetooth kit -- much better and cheaper system. It doesn't look like MB is going to move away from their wired and expensive solution (which I invested in), we can only hope they introduce Bluetooth and continue supporting this MHI system.

Would rather have the freedom to change phones (more cheaply) and use the voice control the new 3 series offers. Just my two cents.

yeah - there is a lot of stuff to read on the web...however, the scheduled introduction of august 2005 is kind of way behind us already

How does the MHI cradle works?

I got a ethernet looking port is my armrest, can I just get the cradle with cable and it will work with my MB V600? All prewired?

If I already have V551 from Cingular, can I just buy the cradle and hook it up, or I need an account with MB?

You need alot more than just a cradle, email MBenzNL for details.
See above ^ Your account is with your cell company, MB has nothing to do with it.

That's what I thought.............forget it. It just doesn't make sense to me to spend 1+ grand to hardwire my wireless phone to interface with the car.
