Cigarette lighter stopped working
I haven't used my front cigarette lighter in a few days, as I have been using my rear lighter but only to charge my PDA. I just tried to use the front lighter and it has stopped working. I did install the AUX in cable recently - could I have disconnected or broken something that powers the lighter from over there? Is there anything else I should try?
I searched for similar problems and it seems like it's unlikely to be a fuse, since as far as I can tell the cigarette lighter is the only thing that isn't working. I plugged in the actual cigarette lighter (that is supposed to heat up) and it is just stuck there now, presumably since it's not heating. The light inside it does turn on when my headlights turn on.

Plug in some accesory into the lighter socket like a radar detector or phone charger see if it works with the ignition on.Lighter socket doesnt get power without the ignition switched on.

seeing that you have a 2005, take it in under warrenty, dont mention that you did the aux wire though... they will try to blame it on you and charge you... and you'll get a free car wash out of it!

If it's a blown fuse, just replace the 15Amp fuse and it will work again. I did that trying to add an extra hidden socket for my XM radio.
when the fuse for the cigaret lighter goes, nothing else stops working. Heck the light up ring around the socket still works.
I hope this helps. If the fuse isn't shot, head over to the dealer and tell them it just stopped working. get them to diagnose it.

I know it is a stupid question but what does a blown fuse look like? I tried to pull it out (Fuse #47 in the engine box) but it doesn't seem to want to come out. Of course I did not pull very hard because I'm afraid of breaking it.
Does this one fuse supply both lighters? (Front center compartment and behind the arm rest). The outlet in the back still works.

I just noticed that the light in the glove compartment is no longer working either. I guess it's probably not a fuse then? If not then I'll just take it into the dealer some time this week.

just yank it out...you cant really break anything there...you can use a set of long nose pliers to pull it out...
and you can tell you fuse is out when the metal link b/w both ends is broken...but beware sometimes you wont be able to tell if its burned out so just switch it out with another one to see if it works...goodluck

Maybe a dumb question, but how can you get the cig lighter to work without the ignition being on??? I need to recharge my cell phone and can not always do it while the car is on. Dumbest thing I've ever seen.

What happens if the light around the cig lighter no longer works when the car is on or when the lights are on, or whenever the heck its supposed to be on, lol. I wiggled it a couple times and the light came on but then went back off and never came back on..I don't have the lighter thing so i cant see if it heats, and it also didnt charge my cell phone....i've yet to check the fuse, but I have a feeling its not going to be the fuse...any ideas??
