Lost Key..

I recently noticed that i had lost the spare benze key of my gf's car.. The weird part is that the release key (part that opens the glove box) is still on my key chain.. im trying to replace my steps and see where it might have come off, but i looked at her key and someone would really have to push down on the button to release it...

so my question is, i know its gonna be expensive, but how much for a new one? can i buy a used one off ebay and have them recode it? anyone with some help? thanks guys

Absolutely not, you will be told otherwise but it is not possible at all.

I paid $135 for my new one 2 years ago. I would budget up to $200 to be safe.

yeah, john is right, you need and should order it from your dealer, there is a long wait for them to send it over. the very first thing they told me when i picked up my car was " dont lose your keys, it'll be a ***** to get a new one".

sorry to hear bro. good luck.

I lost one of my spare smart keys in Hurricane Katrina and it cost me $167 to replace it. No more than a month later my wife loses the key and it cost me $212 (different dealership)

??? What ignition part???? The EIS (Electronic Ignition Switch) can handle 7 tracks of keys and each track has 3 keys. That is a total of 21 keys per ignition switch before it needs replacement. Lost keys can be disabled in the EIS with the DAS system at your local dealer.

The Sunman has spoken. My dealer warned me not to lose my keys or it would cost me $150, and that was 2004 when I bought it.
