I keep saying my C320 is the best driving and worst reliable car I have ever owned (25+ cars?) but it has never left me stranded. I still have it, and am ready to replace it, and have looked at other cars, but haven't found anything I like better for my wants. It seems to be a crap shoot when buying almost any car but the Japanese reliability definitely wins the prize.

i totally agree! altough i would never rack that much milage on it in such a short time.

I almost elected to get the G35 instead of the 05 C230 SS. I love the car! the only problems i have is the service, it's damn expensive and MB service just sucks (i think must would agree). everyone has their preferences, my buddy likes jap cars and calls mine a lemon cuz i've had to bring it in for small computer issues.

American cars in general are amongst the worst in build quality, material used, and reliability. exclude few exotics like the Ford GT, Viper, Zo6, Shelby, Saleen, etc.

calling a Ford Mustang better built than the MB is just Like usual, I take Buellwinkles' comments on these subject with a grain of salt...

Vettes, even the Z series, are among the worst made cars in the world...always on the top 10 problem lists.

The Corvette's biggest failing has been and remains the interior. The mechanicals and the performance are more than worthy of respect. A 60K Z06 can hang with just about anything the world has to offer. Give respect where respect is due.

I can't comment on Navigation intsallations, but you cannot beat the ease and cost of "chipping" a VAG turbo engines. Download the software from the tuner Web site to a laptop, plug said laptop into OBD port below steering wheel, run the flashing utility. $600, 15 minutes max, 260hp and 290tq.


To the OP, one person's experience (namely, your friend who had the car in the shop a lot) is not a lot of data to consider when deciding on how it would be to own a car. As I'm sure you've heard already, forums like these tend to discuss problems or modifications rather than troublefree performance from a car, so take that into account as well. All manufacturers make lemons and gems, and you'll never know which you are getting when you sign the dotted line. If you like the car, are in a position to buy it, and you're willing to accept that owning the car means taking care of it, then it sounds like you're ready.

Feel free to enjoy this consumer reports article where it lists the Vette under "least reliable". Of course there are a bunch of Benz's under there, but I've seen the Vette on the worst lists of nearly every rating.
