Need Help with my gas guzz-la!

Hello to all, I have some problems with my Blk/2001 c320 with 43,000 maybe some one else has had these issues, I'm getting extremely bad gas milage (210-230 a tank)as well as when I excellerate hard the engine rev's as if it's over working but the car is'nt moving that fast, if some one chimes in and need more revelent information I'd be more than happy to go out to the car and retrieve what ever infomation is requested, I've made an appointment with the Stealer for early next week but I'm hoping to go in more informed so as too not get ripped off as much!
Ps.> No lights of any kind appears and when I last checked I was getting less than 17.9mpg last trip as per cars cpu, all service's and or maitenance done on time, this one four cars so I don't drive it much.
Thanks for the help!
Regards Rob Franklin

Sounds like the transmissioin is going south. Is the trans shifting properly? Look in your coolant reservoir and see if there's any oil mixed with the coolant....the radiator cools both engine and transmission fluids in separate coil sections and some have leaked between the sections and contaminated the trans fluid. Worst case trans and radiator need replacement. Hope it's not that.

Well you do live in LA... you will NEVER match the EPA mpg posted in your car cause they obviously don't test it in LA. I've averaged the same on a tank as you sometimes but that's usually because I drive the car pretty hard (6speed). When I take it easy though and keep the revs low i usually hit high 200's, rarily did I ever hit 300's. Though if you are driving all conservative and getting those mpg's something might be wrong...

Thanks for your responds, I to have driven and own several automatic cars and my daily driver 2000 528I is auto as well but this car's seems to be working extremely hard when every I choose to be a little aggressive and or excellerate strongly to make a light or get the jump on another car, maybe it's a benz thing my bimmers turn over very smooth and since my wife mainly drives this benz I don't have much experience with this particular car's performance so I'm a little perflexed with how it rev's as well as the poor gas mileage please stay tuned.
Thanks again to all concerned for your input I'll just have to wait until she goe's to the doctor, I will report back to this thread with her condition.
Regards!

17.9 is pretty good for a C320. I never get better than mid 16s when I have them as loaners. And yes, the MB 5 speed auto does hold a gear too long when you let off. As Ct said, sounds about normal for any automatic.
