Need Help With Easy Project!

Hey guys,

I just ordered a CF lip for my 06 230! Anyone in the Dallas area wanna meet up with a powerdrill (who knows how to install mods) to help me install this fairly easy project? I think even if I had a drill, I wouldn't want to mess it up!!!!!

Thanks!!!!!

I'm in Dallas and would love to meet up and help out. I can bring a drill if needed, but I'm not going to even attempt to touch your car. You'll need someone else to install...I don't trust myself...

No installers in Dallas?

Hey guys,

I'm getting a little frustrated...........I just got a CF lip for my 230 SS, and I can't find anyone to help me install it. I'm in the Dallas area, I've STFF, and found no information on anyone that can help me actually install the lip. Any ideas??? I'd do it myself, but part of the job requires that I drill 10 holes into the bumper, and I def do not have the experience to do it without screwing up. HELP!

Thanks!!!!

I merged your threads. They deal with the same issue. Lets keep the clutter to a minimum and NOT start a new thread everytime.

How old are you? Take your time, double check and then triple check your measurements/markings and drill. If you don't feel comfortable then take it to a body shop and PAY them to install it. There is your answer HTH....

I say if you don't want to spend $50-100 at the bodyshop to install it than tape up the lip and than drill the holes. You will need to jack up the car to get a better view and put a blanket under the front bumper so when you drop the lip it won't scratch up.

I'd do it myself, but I don't have any of the stuff. ie:ramps, drills, etc

I really rather just have a professional installer do it, and spend the $100. But the problem is I've STFF and did Google searches and can't seem to find any good shops that will do this kind of thing in my area. What do you look for in a good bodyshop, anyway? Any tips will help!

Thanks

call your dealer and ask which bodyshop they use. Or drive down to venice and i'll do it for you.

Excellent advice. The dealer should be able to recommend a good bodyshop. If you have any friends or associates who drive luxury cars (or even some nice fixed up rice rockets), I'm sure SOMEONE can recommend a decent bodyshop in your area.

I would go out an buy a 20$ drill. Its really simple. And as long as you have some people help you, you cant mess up with drilling. But if you are not comfortable, ANY body shop can do it in minutes for you.

Thanks

Thanks for all the great advice guys. I think I'm going to go ahead and install it myself........Ling over at the C55 forum gave me some tips (he had the same CF lip installed on his C55) and he said it wasn't that hard at all. I'll let you guys know how it goes and will post pics once the install is done!!

Thanks again!!

Actually, I would not take that much advice from the C55 lip. They both install differently. And the C230/C32 lip is actually more difficult to install then the C55 lip. The C230 lip definitely requires you to use at least 2-3 people. There is more to get right with this lip then the C55 lip. Just be sure to follow the instructions completely and you will be good to go. If you have any questions let me know.
