Is stuff like this inevitable for owning a Benz?
The scratches seem too mismatched to be done by something other than a jackass keying my car out of jealousy; at first I thought maybe I left something on the trunk and it scratched it, but on closer inspection, some of the marks were too perfectly made to be an accident.
Anyway, my question is, what product help seal or help buff out the scratches? Whoever did it didn't do it very deep, I think it only scratched the top enamel, so I'm hoping some kind of wax or "scratch remover" can help conceal and protect it.
Thanks!
i wouldnt even bother fixing it myself b.c i know it will not be perfect and i cannot live with anything less than perfect esp. since you just got it!!! it's an 06 right?
why dont you claim it? doenst your insurance cover it? not sure how insurance works down south but if i claimed it i would have to pay a $400 deductable and have a professional re paint it, sucks but at least it's good as new.
i hate ppl who dont respect other ppl's property!
good luck.

Luckily, the scratches aren't that bad at all......the scratches aren't deep, so I'm thinking using Meguiar's will hopefully help get rid of it after a few applications. I don't think my insurance covers it; when I called my agent he actually recommended that I don't call to make a claim unless it was for something extremely serious???
I'm sick of these jealous people who think just because I have a MB, I'm trying to show off and "think I'm better than they are". Non-car fanatics don't seem to understand that people like me who love cars get the cars we do because we love them, and appreciate their qualities, not because we want to show off.
I know that this is life and **** happens, but man, I wish there was something we can do about this....
Thanks guys for your sympathies!!!!! I appreciate it!

i would have to agree, i mean its a little more t han that. the guy is obviously an a$$hole to begin with so they go out of their way to do it. but it could also be an enemy.

As usual, I never find anything wrong, so I know how my car is each and every day. When I found the scratches last night when I got home, I knew my car was messed with while I was work at the company parking lot, because earlier that morning, everything was fine. So I know for a fact some jackass jealous employee must've seen my Benz parked in the lot and decided to mess with my property. I'm a pretty easy going laid back guy, and I've never had any enemies. (that I know of) So that's why I'm pretty sure it was either envy or jealousy that motivated this idiot to do what they did. And I'm not the type to take up two spots or do anything to attract any attention; Usually I park next to my buddies CTS-V, so it's not like I'm being a dick about having a nice car.
I pity people who have to resort to this kind of crime to boost their otherwise low self confidence and jealousy issues, and hope this ***** will come back to them one day.
They were drunk
They hate the color of your car
They hate Germans
They were high
They had PMS
Your car was next to theirs
They had a bad day
They were walking next to your car, and figured what the hell
They're blind, and thought it was their car
The voices in their head told them to
It was Ellen DeGeneres, and Anne Heche has the same car, and Ellen's a little bitter

Wrong place, wrong time.
To make the huge jump in logic and say that it was done out of jealousy without knowing the person who did the scratching is a little farfetched to me. But if it makes you feel better about the whole situation, then I guess that's sumthin.
His jilted and scorned ex is stalking him and she is still pissed that he's displaying his arrogance by driving a Benz, obviously doing better since they broke up (She also keyed his Honda).
Recently I used Meguiars to remove a small abrasion from the lower part of the rear bumper. It was not a scratch, just a little roughing up of the surface. Whatever had been there was GONE as if it was never there!
Personally, I agree with the most recent posts on this thread. LOTS of reasons for jerks to key cars. I've had a couple keyed over the years; a '72 Beetle, a '76 Blazer (my first new car), an '80 Buick Reatta.
If you're driving a CL55 AMG or an E55 AMG, the I"LL be jealous of you. But you're driving a C230...and it's probably been debadged for reasons you won't admit.

Second, I agree there are lots of reasons to key someone's car.
Third, I don't debadge my cars. I'm proud to have a C230 at my age, and I love my car.
What's with all the hate in here.....

Interesting. I would agree with you, if the average car driven on the road has a value of $30k or more. where I live (SF Bay Area), there are a lot of cars on the roads with values of $5K or less.
A dude with a jealous mind who is driving a $5K car would probably be more jealous of a C230 than you would for an E55 because an E55 is less than 3 times the cost of a 2006 C230 but the C230 is more than 6 times the value of his car.
