Country: Canada (heading to Mosport Circuit)
Model: E320
Max Speed: 135+mph
Comments: The most beautiful road I have ever driven. Very wide, open highway in the mountains with banked, sweeping turns and completely empty!!. 3 deer/elk (whatever they were they almost became soup, along with me) decided do cross the highway while i was at about 120 and I had to quickly (and gently ) swerve in between 2 of them. Car handled beautifully, and probably saved my life!

Country: Argentina
Model: 2001 Peugot 406
Max Speed: 140
Comments: Straight shot at this speed for a good 20 minutes at night on an empty 2 lane highway in the middle of the patagonia. Got kinda boring after a while haha .

It's funny how after you drive at 125+ for a few minutes, when you slow down to 90/100 you feel like you're crawling.

Yeah, thats why when I'm on the highway I try to go about 80-90mph all the time That way I don't feel like I'm driving slow. People get in the car and say geesh man slow down your going fast. WTF this is slow!!!

PS: I need to get myself a radar detector to make sure I never get stopped.

Ha, the only ticket I've had in a while, is one from an airplane.
I did a "trial by declaration" and lost. I could've gone in person, but I missed the
deadline to file a "Trial De Novo". I never got to see what the officers responded, and yes they both wrote written responses, which I was somewhat shocked about, since I'd read there was a 30% chance they wouldn't respond,
and thats with one officer.
With 2 involved, I figgered my odds were increased.
I say it's BS, but oh well.

Needless to say, what the officer said was true
"that (detector) won't do you any good against the airplane".

Yup "They even had a Bear in the air".

Lately, I think a number of cops are using Laser, since I pass them with
no response on the detector, while they are holding a gun of some sort.

Still, it helps to prevent the majority of Oop's when you aren't paying attention.
Likely I need a newer one. The one have is old.

Wow thats crazy, an airplane...well cops in Mass are stepping up...theres traps everywhere, so I'm very cautious. Wish I could afford a valentine or escort, because theres no point in getting the other ones that arent as effective, at least from what I've read.

V1, all the way! I have never gotten a speeding ticket, and the Valentine has definitely saved my @ss a couple of times. Although if the cop is using laser, the most sophisticated detector wont do you any good because the response time is virtually instantaneous. Most cops use laser around where I live which sucks.

Comments: Still accelerating at that speed. Felt like it was still on 6th gear. Still very stable at that speed. Slowed down due to oncoming traffic. This is with 3 passengers and trunk full of stuff.

Those are Kilometers pe hour and not miles. That is about 170 MPH. That car can go that fast with no proplems. There is no speed limitors in europe from what I know. But on the other hand it does look like it is a fotoshop picture.

In the US
My old Passat W8 - 130+ mph
C230 - 120 mph

In Germany
Calibra turbo - 140 mph

In Brazil (!)
Marea turbo - 140 mph

More interesting is how often you go fast (like Ricky Bobby used to say) when you're single X married...
My cars (or me) are now slower, hotter (temperature) and with low stereo volume.

Well, I read that the Laser and POP readings although instantaneous, are not valid for ticketing. They used as a reference to read your speed for a minimal interval of time and then write you the ticket. Therefore, V1, Escort and Passport are quite effective IF the police follows this rule.

True or not, I keep my Passport when I hit the HW here in MA, soon in NC

CL203 & sprinter
speed

Australia, Hume Hwy.
223 k/m max.
Car wouldn’t budge any further..
Wouldn’t wanted to have gone any faster..
Australian road engineers must have been drunk when designing this stretch of highway.. it seemed smooth at first, but the faster i went the more ridiculously unsuitable the road was.

True Cla 100, being in France, the speedometer is in kilometers and not miles, however genuinely all Mercs are electronically limited to 250kms/h (around 155miles/hour) even in Europe, but it is possible to disable this limit.

Also, the ESP indicator doesn't always mean "death" because you can disconnet the ESP on the dashboard in that case, the indicator is on to warn you that there is no ESP to help you in case of a problem (even if you are stopped. Yet if I was to go to that speed, I would not disconnect the ESP and would probably be scared to death if the indicator was to flash to my eyes.

This photo is not a fotoshop as far as the speedometer did indicate 300 the hand really was indiacting 300 when I took the photo.

But the fotoshop is, as spotted by FrankW, on the gear selection which actually indicated P.

In fact, I was in the garage with the diagnosis computer plugged on the car and we were running test on the car (trying to activate the folding side mirrors) when at some point, we found that test, the speed hand goes from 0-300 in a couple seconds and back to 0.

Well done guys, you know your mercs I don't think I would dare taking a picture at those speed. Although at 200 the car feels really stable.

more seriously I only had the car for couple weeks and didn't dare (because of the cops) to go to the limit, still.
