Question I Need Some Info On Wheels And Tire Ratios And the Science For My C230 Sedan ????

Hi I just purchased an 05 C230 Sport Sedan. Its a very nice car but for my first modification will be changing my rims and tires. I heard its a science, because larger rims and tires will have an affect on your car. I will be getting some 18's or Prehaps 19's. I seen alot of peoples cars on this forum, and It seems like we get larger sz wheels for looks. But Here is my question. Since the car has 17's on it already what will the ratio be when I go up a sz or two ? Will my speedometer and odometer read incorectly ? What about mpg how much will that decrease ? What about my acceleration and horsepower will that decrease also ? Will this change have an effect on the engine and rpm ? What about the weight of the wheels that I choose will that have an impact also ? Can someone please tell me how this works ? Also will 18's look nice on the stock 05 sport suspension or will I require a drop. I feel that my sedan is really low on the ground. Also when you put larger wheels on the car will the car ride height go up from 17's to 18's or 19's will the car have the same height but a big gap ? Please give me some imput on putting new wheels on my car. As far as tires, I would like to know wha ttire diameter I would need for OEM standard. This is one of my first mods, and I have come to this community to get advice.

Since you're a newbie and this is your first post, I'll be overly helpful:

Look at these links that I found via the SEARCH function, that will help you get some info. The keywords used were Tire Size Calculator:

https://mbworld.org/forums/search.php?searchid=1529279

This thread specifically, will give you some good Tire Calculator websites to see what the changes would be when upgrading:

For you guys that upgraded to larger sizes did you go to the MB Dealer to change your settings on the computer so that way it can match the gears and ratios properly ? Or is your whole car just off and you dont care ?

Car is off maybe a couple miles at most.

1) kickr appears to be correct.
2) drex - you're loosing your touch. Better do the Mozart bit again.

@ cpe_fresh

1) You claim to have a coupe, based on your forum name, but yet state you've got a sedan.
2) You don't read whats been posted, don't STFF and/or allow any kind of forum notification.
3) Your IP gives you away.
4) You are another alias.
5) Didn't you just recently post your good-byes because you sold your Coupe?

Yeah, I guess you're right, amdeutsch. Becoming a softie...LOL...Must be the lack of those great Mozart candies! Actually, more so because of the influx of people who seem to think I'm arrogant...LOL...just trying to be helpful again. I guess I should start again...HAHAHA.

Don't lick the Kugel; eat it.

For those of you with babelfish skills I'd like to see what translation you come up with for Kugel.

Perugina is bad *** too! Yeah, I know 'bout those. Only thing is, both are super rich, so can't eat too many of them at one time.

This is off topic but the next time you're in Europe, go for the La Maison French chocolates. They have an interesting taste and texture.

The Baci is good, I'm just not a big fan of the big nut in the middle, i spit it out as if it were a cherry pit.

Don't go for the new Godiva Platinum stuff, it's not that great.

The Mozart candies are hard to find in Europe nowadays. I can only get them when I'm actually smack in the middle of Salzburg.

My cousin just brought back La maison French chocolates! She went to France for vacation and had me try them. Very good chocolate also.

Sigh... let me just make it easier for you, just switch to 19s or 18s and you'll be glad you did. You won't even worry about going a mph or two slower , or if your car is higher by 1/4 of an inch, or if your rpm changes OR FOR WHATEVER reason it may be.

You'll just be damn happy that you got 18s or 19s period.

Helpful hint: going to Tirerack.com and they'll recommend you the correct tires size based on 18s or 19s and width. Good luck

Johnny, pointless to help this one. This was that one user (always forget his original name) that kept coming on asking the same ish and wanting people to spoon feed him info. amdeutsch, already checked the ip address and it was proven to be the same one...LOL...That's why he was clownin' me for losin' my intuitiveness and this thread turned into a conversation about great European candies that are hard to find here and/or impossible to get here...LOL.

BTW...You gonna meet up when Blake comes into town?

Why do these threads go off topic ? I am in the same delima as this guy. Why would the ride height change ? That cant be correct. If you get the correct wheel/tire combination, the overall diameter of wheel and tire together does not alter ? No need to lower the suspension at all and the ride height stays the same. Is this true ?

Even when I went from the stock 17 inch staggered setup to what I currently have, the ride height feels a little bit higher (despite the overall diameter being similar) The rim and tire combo I have is slightly out of the parameters that would make the overall circumference/diameter the same as stock.

Overall diameter would change from older luxury models that had the 16 inch stock rims. The 2004.5-present models were the first to come standard with the 17 inch staggered setup, so for those models the "correct" tire size setup, to keep the diameter/circumference the same, is 225/35R19 and 255/30R19.

I have 235/35R19 and 265/30R19, so the circumference/diameter is slightly larger than what is standard.

If you check the settings of the stock 16 inch tires going to staggered setup, you'll see it would be drastically different.

Well, at that point, it depends on "preference". I didn't like the stock ride height. The 2005-present models are slightly lower, but they still have too much of a gap for my tastes. Again, the ride height may change slightly based on tire selection, however, it just depends on a person's preference.

What about the performance aspect with the 18's. Will the acceleration decrease and the horsepower. I know 18s would decrease the performance but to what extent are we talking about. What about MPG ? This all comes down to the correct tire diameter correct ? Would the odometer be off ? To what extent ? I need to know this info.

This is stupid, why do these important information threads go off topic ? If you like Chocolate post it in Off Topic. Now can someone answer my questions ?
