Now I've seen it all....
Just wanted to share what I came across today....I was driving in So. Cal and I looked over at a gas station and what do I see filling up........... a yellow SLK that was raised about as high as most SUV's and then to top it off he had a trailer attached. But this was no ordinary trailer...it was a back side (trunk) of a SLK that was converted. Wish I had a camera with me. Why would someone do such a thing???

1997 Toyota Tacoma 4x4
Oh my God, you saw that one?!? That's a pretty famous vehicle! The couple driving that had it custom-made. It's on a G-Wagen chassis. They have driven it all over the world, starting on New Year's Day of 1999. They plan to finish their journey on New Year's Day of 2002 in New York City. I've read all kinds of magazine articles on those people (I forget their names). I think they've covered something like 150,000 miles in that hybrid SLK.

That couple is featured in the latest Mercedes Momentum Mag..
That is an extremely famous SLK you just saw. Those people have taken that SLK all over the world. I suggest you guys get the mag and read the article. It's pretty interesting. They put an SLK body and Interior on top of a G500.

C32 AMG, Volvo S80T6
Its different
I can appreciate it for its difference. I dont think I would run out and order one but looks ok belonging to someone else. If I had the application for it, I might entertain one. But I live in good ole NYC and an off roader is just not needed. My few trips to Vermont in the winter, I use the Volvo which is great in snow.

If I had this much time on my hands... and this much money... (obviously this ex-investment banker does)... I would have taken a STOCK G500 around the world. Alot more room in that G500 cabin. (Picturing two guys driving across Sweden at -30 degrees F in an SLK cabin bundled in multi-layer sweaters/overcoats/gloves/hats. LOL!)
Yep, too much time and money, combined with masochism, albeit stylish (more or less) masochism.
Speaking of senselessly mutilated MB SUVs: Earth to REX, earth to REX... Has anyone heard from REX since the switch to the new forum?
