Who did I see today? (So. Cal)

Heading west on the 91 today near the 5 interchange around 3:30pm. A white C230 with c55 ////amg badging and a set of wheels. I couldn't figure out why you didn't want to pass me even though I was going pretty slow. After you were forced to pass I saw the badges on your car with no quad pipes so we figured we knew why. Do us a favor and stop trying to front.

Yah i recently saw a SL500 AMG on the 405 with some middle-aged blonde woman driving it. I really wanted to pull up and ask if she was the one who put it up or if it was her husband's gift so she could tell everyone she owns a AMG . If anyone watches Entourage there's an episode where you find out that he re-badged his wife's sl500 to a sl600 so she feels better .

That doesn't beat the BMW I saw the other day wanting to be an MB. He had removed the BMW badging and put "33 i". I say wanting to be an MB since that numbering system is much like the C32 or C55 idea, at least IMO.

Actually, I think that BMW's badges might've been stolen. Nobody would do that to their own car. At least I hope not.

Psssh. Nothing beats seeing a 95 Mitsu Eclipse in Chinatown with the "turbo" script badge from a 911 Turbo on the rear of the car.

To make matters worse, the guy ALSO had the "GT-R" on the sides of the car. Silly FOBs

I wish I had taken a picture that day when I saw it, it was priceless.

I don't know why people have this obssession in trying to pretend to have something they don't. Hell, for the fun of it, I should stick a C55 engine in my C230 and keep my C230 badges.

I've also noticed S430 or S500, couldn't tell at the time, put on an S600 badge.

It was sad.

I like how in Europe, how many people just have the badge taken off.

you guys seriously need to leave the Fob comment out of it. Tons of people put poser badges on their car, not just fobs.

some BMW guys rebadge their cars to 332i because they dropped an E36 M3 engine in their car (usually E36s).

rare bumper.

ps: and yea...the fob comment irritates me somehow.

.
Most of the posers are far from FOB's. I see an E-class on a regular basis with AMG badging but that's not what gets to me. Dude is a smoker (no offense to anyone else) and constantly smokes in it. The part that I don't get is the part when he keeps the cigarette out the window like it's going to make the car smell any better. Whyyyyyy?

I'm a smoker. I keep the cigarette outside the window. I know it may seem pointless, but it makes a difference between there being a ton of smoke in the cabin and just trails of smoke.

Best way to describe it (for those that don't smoke) is if you were cooking something and burned it (so smoke was filling up the kitchen), would you open the window to let the smoke out or would you leave the window closed? Either way, you're inhaling the smoke, but it just decreases the amount that stays around.

Oh and don't worry. Your comments didn't offend me, just wanted to explain so that non-smokers could understand a little better (even though you still probably won't get the actual "smoking" part).

When I cook something like frying fish, I always do it in the back yard in the camping stove.

Same thing when I smoke.

I had a friend who drove an Infiniti G35 Manual, spoke on the telephone, and smoked a cigarette while shifting. Amazing.

LOL.... i went to china for vacation last year and I saw a " TOYOTA" taxi having a "MERCEDES" star emblem on... I guess the taxi driver took off the toyota emblem and put on the mercedes star... My friend and i had a good laugh too, haha....

There was another incident i had in taiwan. There was a guy driving old version BMW 3 series... i can tell its 318i for sure, but he had BMW M3 and Hamann emblem on.. from head to toes, i can not see anything from M3 and Hamann... and he was trying to block my way with his car while i was on my way home on the mountain road. He wasnt too sure about his situation and i passed him instantly with my dad's X5 4.4

In taiwan, you could even see a toyota tercel rebadged to a bmw 315i. I wish I still have the magazine on hand.. what a joke..
Also, people could buy some cheaply made "M" and "AMG" at almost any auto accessory stores, not to mention those low quality body kits that add 15 hps.

always have a lot of fun on the road when going back to Taiwan

Sad, I might have to go to Taiwan soon too. It's okay, I won't be driving, I have a driver.

I'll just have to keep my eyes closed.

Thanks for the explanation on why it's done. For us non-smoker people we can still pick up the smell so you could see why we think it's pointless. I suppose it helps the smell being faint versus intoxicating.
