Power Slot Rotors Fitment?

I have a question for all you gurus out there. I just bought some Power Slot rotors from autoanything.com for my 2002 C230coupe. I have STFFed before I bought the rotors. The part #s are 489 PSL and 489 PSR for front and 238 PSL and 238 PSR for rears. Keep in mind I only have OEM brakes; no AMG/Sport brakes whatsoever.

So I went to my friend's shop to do the install. First of all, in the front rotors, the little hole that suppose to mount the rotors to the hub is in the wrong place. On the stock ones, the little hole is next to the left on one of those 5 lug holes. But on the Power Slot, that little hole is to the right on one of those 5 lug holes. I called up Power Slot manufacture and the tech said it's fine not to have the screw mount on that hole as long as the caliper is mount on the disc My friend agreed.

Here comes a little disaster on the rear rotors. The little screws were able to mount on the hubs, which were great. But when everything was put back together, my friend took it out for a spin, the rear rotors were rubbing against the shield and made those ugly squeaking. We later found out the it was the back of the rotors that have an extra "rim" that was thicker that the stock ones. He had to re-surface them down to make the back of the rotors look like the stock ones. Right now, the squeaking sound went down a lot, but if I lower all the windows and listen to it, it's still there. Also, I realized that there are lots of streak marks on the rear rotors. The front has none. Is this normal or should I just wait for couple days for them to break in?

So does anyone has that much hassles just to install these rotors? I don't think we have installed them incorrectly. The tech at Power Slot manufacture insisted that these parts are right for the car. Any takers?

Just throw in any replies if you know the answer. Thanks for all the help!

Jon

Hey Mj, I wish it was that simple but no. I am 1000% sure each corner is fitted with the right rotors. It even has labels on the rotors (L, R) Also, only front rotors are ventilated, so there's no way we can mixed them up.

Fyi, Power Slot are also made by Brembo They are engraved on the edges on the rotors. Anyone know what's the difference (performance wise) other than branding?

Okay. I agree that not having the front mount screws in doesn't mean much. After all, when you put the rim on, you have the torque needed to keep the rotors in place.

As for the scraps in the back. Are they digging metallic type scraps, or simply the brakes bedding into the rotors? I think that the Powerstop rotor has a yellow anodized coating. This is going to wear off and is quite normal. However, if you have digging metallic circles on the rotors, than you have something touching the rotor. Ultimately, if you can send a pic it would help.

As for the heat shield, you cant bend that back a bit to quite the squeking. It may also be your brake shoe that is squeking.
