Secondary Cat
So Ive searched around and even posted this question on another thread but removing the secondary catalytic converter, will it do any damage? it probably wont pass emissions but hell it sounds so nice without it and my butt dyno is feeling a bit of a difference or maybe its just mental.

By secondary you're talking about the "box-like bent" halfway through the chassis right? Not the resonator. If so, it can be removed and your car will whistle a different tune (literally) - and you should also feel a slight kick in the pants.

I did remove it, it sounds alot better and the mid-range response is noticably better. But that doesnt answer whether it will damage the car or have any other negative effects like warrenty and what not.

I'd say it wouldn't hurt - never did when I played around with mine - as far as warranty efforts? Well that's your call - my service advisor was fine and supported every single mod on my car - performance or otherwise (wishing to see me at least once a month because I "updated" so frequently).

Removing the Resonator won't do any damage to your car. Since our laws are more "relaxed" here in Bangkok, Thailand, we don't run into issues when removing it. As for warranty, mine warranty is finished so I couldn't tell you what MB would say although I find it differs between them.

as for warranty issues, like mentioned in older threads, whatever you remove is not covered under warranty and whatever is removed that caused another part for failure voids your warranty...
for example, removing ur secondary cat voids ur warranty for the secondary cat.
but if the removal of ur secondary cat caused the engine to (lets say blow up lol) then your warranty is void.
this is what MBUSA told me.
I think moving ur cat w/o replacing it with another is bad for your car.
lol by the way, the only aftermarket cats i found that was "OK" was Borla.

I like how it sounds and performs alot better without that second cat so I think Im going to stick with it if I run into problems Ill have it put back on and hopefully the dealer wont notice.

I can't imagine it doing any damage - removing the cat is just like adding a more freely flowing exhaust... (except maybe your emissions will go to hell).
