I transfered my civic audio system into my 05 c230. It hits harder in the civic but more clear in the benz. I suggest you do the install youreself. its very simple and straight forward. i also recommend the ported box for the JL. ported is 3db louder and hits lower frequency. If i had room i would've ported. i have the followin in my car.

Stock HU
Audio conrtol 3.1
two 13.5 jlw6v2 (sealed box)
ppi pc2350 (sub amp)
ppi 4400 (mids & tweet)
mb quart pce component.

If u have any questions on the install. PM me..

Depends on the sub, does the sealed box u already have in accordance to the specification?? A properly made ported box will play louder but doesn't neccesarily twice as loud, it'll be more efficient. Each car will react differently, Civic has minimal sound absorption material and their back seat is quite light compare to our car, thus allowing more bass to travel. Is your civic a hatch or sedan??

If i'm in your position i'll have the amp installed first and listen how the sealed box perform in the new car, if it's good enough no need to build ported box.

I agree with ^^^^. Besides, he know his stuff! If you can find a path for the sound to move from your trunk to the cabin, stay with the sealed especially if the old system worked and the volume was correct for your subs. Don't let them talk you into anything you don't need!

ChaRgeC230, do you have any pics of your install? I/we would like to see them!

As for my set up, it's still under construction but I will have 2 - 10's in a sealed enclosure in the spare tire well. I will remove the stock sub (in the rear deck) to get sound into the cabin. PM me if you would like pics or have more questions.

Let us know what you do!

well i think im gonna jus go with the sealed box i already have...they said ther gonna take all that insulation out in the trunk so the bass can travel into the cabin..and ihave a boost controller..so i think its gonna sound clean..and i guess if i dont like it then ill have them build me a box later on...my old civic was a 2000 coupe..so it shouldnt be a huge difference..

I dynamatted my whole trunk so theres almost no rattling.
Its not overwhelming, but powerful enough. I havent tried a ported box yet.

I have the H/K System and i'm very pleased with it, it registers classical, jazz, techno/house, and rock very well. However, there is one problem, the subwoofer and the midrange speakers vibrate excessively even when the Bass is set at only +2. Sometimes I hear a rattling sound from the rear hat shelf.

I understand that this rattling can be reduced if I have my sun shade in a certain position and if it were really bad I can have the dealer release a can of foam back there.

I think the car's HK audio system is great. However, it'd be nice to have a non-rattling subwoofer. German cars weren't supposed to rattle, only American built cars rattle. What's going on with the "kwality"?

I semi-agree. I think that having a non-rattling sub-woofer would be great. But then again, its not a great sub. I think its only a 6" at best, maybe 8". it has no '*****'. The highs and mids are pretty good, but no bass, even if turned up to +10. if it was up to me i wouldnt of gotten the H/k but i bought the car slighty used, so the system, along with other options were already there. im comparing the sound quality of the h/k to my full aftermarket system in my 96 honda. and it just doesnt compare. i wish it was as easy to swap out this system as it was the stock honda one. i would make soooo happy! but alas, it seems i need Pimp My Ride kind of $$$ to do the sounds in my c230

If u want more definition on the bass, you should put more emphasis on front stage area, after all they are the one who play most of the octave in the music. Subwoofer only produce lower 2 octave. You'll find it more satisfying to have a strong and definite midbass compare to huge bass from subwoofer. Music wouldn't be right without sub but. I found the stock Merc speaker absolutely pound on mid bass area, but i think they do this on purpose, it'll make people think that the system has a good volume and bass, but i find it severly lacking in mid range and high area, very muddy.
