installed mats from Mats.com
they finally arrived in a box that looked like it was beaten w/ three large sticks it's good that they're made of rubber.
anyway, the fit was fine w/out any adjustments (i only got fronts). soft rubber, no spikes to hold them in place like the oem mercedes all-weather mats. a red border around the lip at the bottom end of the mats w/ the word Cannon :thmbsdwn: - did not notice that on their web page when i ordered but upon revisiting them, its clear that they are there.
my recommendations: if you want the mb mats, go get them - but i didn't like the spikes. i'm still keeping my set for future use. if the car&driver mats from walmart/target/kmart fit your car, i'd get those for $10 each. (they didn't fit my bmw, but would've fit my mb). the macneil mats are more functional - will hold melted snow (water), no spikes to make dimples - but aesthetically, the red edge stands out.
i have truly entered the realm of car geekdom... i can't believe i'm thinking so much about carmats...
but i really love my car

MB-BOB, that's correct. The red stripe is only on the black. In fact, if I needed black, that would stop me from buying WeatherTechs. Luckily, the tan is "clean".

yes, i'm thinking of several ways of getting rid of the red border. sand it off, use a knife to slice a thin layer off, permanent markers, paint pens, duct tape, whatever it takes...

Instead of doing some cheesy-looking alteration or modification, I would send them back and get mats that you actually like…

Out Of Control!!
Or, you could just scale back the anality a tad, and not worry about the red border. I think they look fine as-is, and any attempts to "improve" them will probably only make them worse. I hate Weathertech's ads in the rags, so I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the mats, especially how easy the trimming was to get them to fit.

To dimple or not to dimple
I bought the clear all weather mats at uh hum Wally world and they fit fine. They actually cover alot of area since it has been raining here everyday. Yes they do dimple but even being a Virgo I don't let that get to me.

Benzomonterey, did you buy your mats from Wall Mart?
How are they? Which ones fitted your car?
Would anyone recommend any other clear mats?
Thanks
Nathan

I got similar mats from our local wholesale club for $15. I believe they are made by Kraco. They fit fine, no trimming needed. Mine are not clear though they may have had clear ones...
