Seriously, what more do you want out of these brakes. Go get Brembos. They're pretty darn good brakes already. Actually, sometimes I get a mushy pedal feel.

walking contradiction... "they're good brakes, but I get mushy pedal's..." give me a break! (no pun intended)

they're pretty good, but you can ALWAYS do better. I'm assuming that DarcKnight can get his hands on a pretty reasonably priced set of used brakes from a CL600. Without doing research, I'd also assume that they're 4-pot instead of the 2-pot we get and that they're probably larger in diameter. It's a cheaper alternative to getting Brembo's, Alcon's, or Stoptech brakes and it'll increase performance for a fraction of the price.

let people mod, just because you don't mod or are afraid to mod doesn't mean you should discourage others.

DarcKnight, let us know what happens, that would be pretty cool.

Not afraid of modding myself or other people modding.

I wouldn't be surprised if the 600 series had 6 piston front brakes. Since many AMG versions have 8 piston front brakes (if I'm not mistaken).

I'm definitely all for it if the pricepoint is economical and if they fit. All the more power to you DarCKnight. You have my support.

Regarding my brakes, the performance is always good, they stop very well. However, sometimes, I think I get mushy pedals. Just throwing that out there by itself to see if anybody else has the same problem and if they did anything to rectify it so I can hopefully rectify my thoughts that it's a mushy brake. I've brought it up with my service advisor and he said it's fine.

You'd make a very good lawyer, I used to practice the art of forensics in high school, did quite alright, however I'm sure you are aspiring to open your own firm someday.

not afraid of modding and don't like the spongy brake feel? Goodridge Stainless Steel Brake Lines.

I was trying to get a set of CL600 brakes, but I got out bid. From the info I had, they were Brembo brakes with MB part numbers and everything. They had 4 pot calipers with larger rotors. But I'll have to keep looking. Thanks for all he feedback

How big are the brake rotors for the CL600 in terms of diameter?

Mercedes is supplied by Brembo on most of its brakes these days. The 2004.5 and the 2005 Sport sedans supposedly have Brembo supplied front brakes but a different supplier for the rear brakes (ironic).

Good luck, another set will come by soon enough.

I know that the SL600 brakes DON'T fit without some serious modifications as I have a set of those (8 piston front & 4 piston rear) to replace the C32 brakes on my C270CDI as those C32 brakes definitely do not have enough stopping power!

CL600 brakes won't fit easily either.

MbenzNL/Steve,

As you probably already know, the CL600/SL600 brakes have a different offset than a W203, modification is needed to the caliper mounting bracket and spacers to correct the offset. I don't like spacers though, but it was the cheapest way to correct the offset problem at the time. I'm looking for a way to correct the offset and still use my R230 Brabus brakes without spacers. I might get the R230 spindles. BTW, I'm driving my car with the new motor now. When are you going to be at Mark's place?

I agree with you, C32 brakes don't have enough stopping power.

CL600 rotors are probably 14.1" diameter if they are at least for 6 or 8 piston calipers.

Wow, thanks Pshek! I never even knew that brakes had offsets, i thought only wheels had offsets. I learned something today!

I know...and I have those brakes complete with R230 spindles (which won't fit the 203 either)...I also have some SLK55 brakeparts so I am not sure yet what I will use to replace the C32 brakes (which truelly suck).
