Soon To Be Mercedes Owner

Hey,

Well I am waiting for the '07 models to come out and I will be purchasing a C230 Sports Sedan. I'm leaning towards white because pictures of it just make it look amazing. But basically I am just wondering thoughts on it just some quick ones. This will be my first Mercedes ever so I have no clue how they are.

Also wanted to know about the upgrades for instance the audio upgrade. Is it worth the money and does it sound good? Also I use my Ipod quite a bit currently using a FM transmitter in my Passat but i was wondering about the integration. Should I just have the dealer do it or myself? And if i do it myself will it affect the warranty?

Thanks guys.

White with black is a good colour combo.

The Mercedes has a lot of small electronic problems, however, powertrain is usually pretty solid.

The H/K audio system, it's very good, the subwoofer rattles though. Worth the money if you are an audiophile.

Have the dealer throw in the iPod integration just right before you agree to their price. Make it a deal breaker and insist that the Mercedes needs that to stay competitive with BMW.

I've actually been noticing some guys on here have white with black which before I thought might not be too good but it does look like a great combo. And about the audio yea my subwoofer in my current car can rattle at times too but for factory audio i realize this can be an issue also some dynamat im sure would help. But I do like to listen to my music a lot and loud so I think i will do the upgrade.

And thanks for the idea of having the dealer throw in the ipod integration. That would be perfect to get that extra goodie thanks for the info again. And if anyone else has any feedback please help me out.

you'll REALLY like the iPod integration kit. It's one of the most seamless implementations out there for a car.

look into the phone system and bluetoth setup before ordering.

dont get silly stuff like headlamp washers. mine came w/ it and i think it worked a dozen times and needed two repairs.

i just use the mp3 played w/ my tape deck and i have the changer in the glove box. very happy w/ the car and the service supplied at MB.

the c230's are very peppy for 1.8 liters in auto and manual.

you WILL deal with check engine lights and costly oil changes & services but you can get a loaner car when you do ( i got an ML special edition a few times) and they will even bring your car to your work for you if you get service during a work day.

I got invites to c class test drives yearly and DAMN are they fun!!!

headlamp washers are a part of the lighting package. You can't get BIX without the washers.

I've been driving a wht/blk C230 sport for the past week. Thanks Dr. Z! A peppy little NA engine. The steering seems easier. The black wood in place of the aluminum panels is ugly, and the vinyl seats are hot as the inside hinges of hades. The 7 speed auto is responsive, but I can't feel any difference from any other modern DC tranny.

I'd go for a lighter interior, and pay for leather. The black interior makes the car seem smaller inside.

The new wheels are a bit nicer looking than the 2006 offering. I'd spring for the HK audio and bix lighting. The nav system is lame, so I'd take a pass on that.

Hi Moviela,
I've read your post, and according to it, you already have the black birdseye maple trim in your car and the new wheels ? and you said that with the black interior it doesn't look good, how can you have the black birdseye trim and the new wheels ? they are for the 07 models which are not yet release? can you please post pictures of your car's interior, and the wheel, because I have ordered the 07 model with the same combination, I just want to see the whole interior's look, so that if it doesn't look good, I can still call my dealer and ask them to change the black into gray interior. I ordered my 07 c-class last week of April and have a target delivery by August.
Thanks in advance and hope you can help.

If you look around the net, you can find some photos. I had the car for making commercials, and am forbidden from taking personal photos. Most of the people liked the wheels, and the thought the wood should be brown, not black.
