2005 C230 Cruise Control Display
Does the 2005 C230ss show the cruise control display with the actual speed you are cruising at inthe message center. I currently am in a loaner 2006 C230ss, when I engaged the cruise control there was a display in the message center showing my speed. Is this new for 2006?

I spoke to the dealership and they told me it was new for the 2006 models. It was a nice feature because you actually knew when your cruise control was on.and the speed it was set at. I can never tell if my cruise is on until i let go of the gas, no light, no nothing to let us know if it on.

However, when I thought about it, it's not really such a big deal. The cruise control stalk is the best interface I have ever used. Not like a lot of the other cars where you can switch on the CC but not have it actively controlling your speed (IIRC). So the question that I asked myself, and now to you, is:
"How would you drive differently if you had a CC indication?"
In my case, the answer was that in real terms it makes no difference to my driving on whether I have a CC indicator or not. I know my foot is off the gas, I know the system will deactivate the moment I touch the brakes, I can accelerate normally, etc.
Maybe it just boils down to what one is used to. We've never had non-MB cars with CC, so my only other experience with CC was with rental cars.

yes i noticed this on my 2006 c280 loaner! it's a display page that pops up no matter which screen you are on, when you activate cruise control it briefly shows a screen that says "Cruise Control: 65 mph" or whatever speed you're going when you set it. i wonder if my 2005 can have this feature? i'm asking the dealership now.

I find it so funny that people need some sort of light to tell them the cruise is on! I always know when mine is on due to me activating it! I have only driven one car in my life that had a cruise idiot light on it. See I know the cruise is on because (1) I set it and (2) the car holds speed when I do not have my foot on the gas! How hard is this concept to figure out? Wow it seems we Americans need everything pointed out to us. Freakin ridiculous.

2002 C230 coupe
I'm not 100% sure but I think I read in the manual that you can turn off the outside temperature display and have the CC speed in it's place and my car is a 2002 c-coupe.
