Xpel Film
Any thoughts on having this film installed -- on the hood, part of the front fenders, the mirrors, and the front bumper? Have any of you had this product or another installed, and what are your experiences with it?
The dealer wants $595.00 and an Xpel installer will do it for $490.00. Is there a less expensive option?
Thanks!

You can buy the kit at www.xpel.com and do it yourself to save some money, but it is not easy. These films have been discussed at great length previously, you may want to do a search.

Jeff - how long did you/have you had it on your car ?
Does the film get nicked up instead of yor paint ?
I have it on the headlights and fogs only...even that was a pain to put on without air pockets forming.
Thanks in advance!

Out Of Control!!
I've had the film on my car (Leading Edge, but same crap as everyone else) for about 10 months now. No nicks at all.
I had a professional install it, and even then, greg230 was able to find air pockets that had formed. It's a tough install.

It provides protection from nicks caused by stones, sand, etc. hitting the nose of your car, your bumper, your side-view mirrors, and parts of your front fenders. It works like a nose bra but is clear plastic so it's very difficult to see.

No, it doesn't make it any easier to clean.
I'd recommend the bumper kit only, for normal driving conditions. It is by far the least noticeable piece and protects what is by far the most vulnerable area.
When you put it on the hood and fenders, the edges and the color difference are far more noticeable. That's because the edges of the xpel are running long distances in the middle of flat surfaces on the hood and fenders. A very different situation than on the bumper.
And, the hood and fenders get far less chips than the bumper. I have 12K on my car, and don't have a single chip on the hood or front fenders. But, I know without xpel on the front bumper, I'd have a lot of chips.
BTW, I installed mine myself and am quite happy with the results. And, as many of you know, I am pretty particular as to the appearance of my cars. I have no air bubbles at all, and my edges are very straight. Much more than I can say for some of the "professional" installations I've heard about (including many on this board). That being said, it did take me around 3 hours, working very slowly and carefully.

I'm interested in getting the clear bra myself. If I can have some of your inputs on the following questions I'd greatly appreciate it.
1) If I ever wax my car do I wax over the bra too or skip it?
2) How do I remove it later? Will it damage my paint?

i installed the bumper myself and it was hard! it took me 7 hours to do this and it would have been worth it for me to pay someone else to do it. I WOULD NOT ATTEMPT THIS YOURSELF! ESPECIALLY THE HOOD!

You can wax over it, and the website says you can remove it later using heat to soften the material.
check out www.xpel.com for more info.

Did I get a good deal, see http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1858325299 also gives you a good explanation on the kit.
X-pel is sending me a video on how to install, just might give it a try, consider my investment.
