blew my front speaker
i checked out crutchfield and it said that i can fit a 5 1/4" or 6 1/2".
which speaker do you guys recommend. the car has a bose 8" sub but dont mind of getting with my umph. another thing is that it has fiber optic cables. would i have to rewire them?
btw the car is a '02 c240
thanks in advance.
I suggest Infinity, Polk, (pioneer sucks, xplode sucks).
I need to replace my kickers soon. let us know whats ur final decision.
btw, im not sure if you need to replace cables with the OEM HU. I think you need an adaptor.
BTW, does anyone know what materials the stock system is made of? Is it paper or rubber?

Selection of replacement speakers is a matter of personal taste. You need to listen to a variety of speakers with an open mind, and pick what satisfies your ears.
Speakers are a bit like tires, they should be replaced in pairs, if not all at once. Exceptions would be if one failed when new, or was damaged in a crash.

I don't plan to swap out the speakers on my own......I have an MB shop I go to to get my mods installed. Is it difficult to install with the fiber optic setup? It's not plug n play?

I had them in my w202 and they sound as good as a car speaker can sound...
I really enjoy hi-quality sound at home and the focal speakers are the closest to that in a car...
Of course you have to know that any speaker can sound even better when fed by an external power amplifier instead of the headunit amp...

For the record, the best speaker in a car I ever had was the old Carbon Fiber Altec Lansing Set. Whoa, such good sound. But that was nearly 8 years ago. Problem with the Quarts is that they are so power hungry. If you don't have an amp, Quarts are not a good option. Pay attention to the sensitivity of the speaker.
The best budget speaker was the Polk Audio 6.5. coaxial. I just don't remember the model #.
I agree about listening to different speakers. Find what works for you.
BE SURE YOU LISTEN TO THEM OFF AXIS! Flatten out the controls on the source unit, turn off any subwoofer on the sound board and have fun.
