w203 brakes are not drive by wire...unless you do a emergency stop which the BAS senses that you want to apply full force on the brake it doesn't make a difference in pedal feel.
I still think the BAS KICK-IN laterly on w mode.Coz on our auto trans. If you look at rpm. you will see each down shifting point at about 900rpm.auto trans will down shift one gear and rpm slightly goes up to about 1100 rpm. There are only a lil bit room to let engine break working. Also it wont make much different around that rpm range..I can really tell the break pedal feels more soft when on W mode.

BAS doesn't kick in unless you do emergency stops. It's not active during normal braking. read it up. if you are feeling mushier brakes then something's wrong with your car.

on the auto. the tranny downshifts under heavier braking. when you are rolling to a stop it doesn't downshift to 2nd or 1st till you are almost stopped. in W mode the tranny ever downshift to 1st. When you are in S mode it downshifts to 1st just before you stop which the aggressive gearing will act as brake as well.

Thx for the explain...Understand now the Bas kick in only when the ecu detect a emergency stop. And tranny did downshift differently under heavy break...How does mercedes get so much hi tech in their product..Anywayz i like them tho....

People assume S means sport. READ THE MANUAL!
Not that it's a big deal, but on some cars in some years the W/S and C/S can be different.

Looking at the manual for a 2002 E320 which has W/S, the W stands for Winter and the S stands for Standard.

Looking at the manual for a 2005 C230 which has C/S, the C stands for Comfort and the S stands for Sport.

Totally doesn't matter, but just wanted to inform those who are confused that for some years, the manual denotes them differently.
