0-60mph runs. Interesting data.
I've so far done tests in a SL500, S500 (220), SLK200K (171), C32K, E200K (210), Audi A4 1.8T, Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7 Limited, C180 (2 litre) and now on the C280. The general rule of thumb has been a 2 second difference to what is printed on manufacturers brochures and almost all the time it has been almost exactly 2 seconds give a + or - .1 difference. I generally put this down to the high altitude and less than stellar fuel. However, the C280 gives me a 0.8 difference to the printed 7.2 times in the brochure. I wonder if this is down to the new variable intake, 4 valve engines being able to compensate for altitude and fuel quality or that the new C280 does 0-60mph in 6 seconds at sea level with good fuel and Mercedes made a mistake. Any thoughts on this?
One thing I have noticed is that it accelerators very quickly even from 70mph, like it found some renewed energy from somewhere. This is where I suppose the variable intake is playing some part. It loves high speed accelerating, more so than from standstill!
I know Porsche is generally pretty modest regarding their performance numbers and RWHP/Torque numbers. Who knows maybe it's a german thing all across the board.
lol, you be pullin vtec through your 5th gear
