Look at this M271 Performance Pulley, does it resemble ......?

We have our local Mercedes enthusiasts who has placed a mass order "the M271 Performance Pulley" from Germany. It incorporates a water pump pulley, Crank pulley (larger than stock) and the belt.

Guess what ? does it resembles one of the well known performance pulley that you could recall ?

Price is unbelievable..

The Pulley is kind of unique as it has a vibration damper enclosed for safety reasons. It is going at $720.

If I have not got my Kleemann M271 pulley, would have settle down for this instead.

Has anyone seen the Carlsson CK20 pulley ?

If you do and the source is not a sponsor, please do not post it on here or I will have to delete it immediately. I can leave this thread open because it is discussing a new "product" and not necessarily promoting sales of this product. Once it goes to promotion, I've got to delete. If anybody wants information on this product, please discuss it in private.

A few companies, including ASP have made pulleys for the M271 but the results were less than favorable for a pulley by itself. The s/c is pretty close to maxed out from the factory, spinning it faster has not shown to produce anymore power. It may seem like more power in SOP tests because you reach the max output of the s/c at lower rpms but at high rpms you lose power because you are overdriving the s/c beyond it's limits. Not like the good old days of the 2002 M111 motor where it was only pushing the s/c to about 65% of it's max rpm. Some believe that with proper chip tuning you can overcome these issues, IHMO, I don't think so and you can probably get the same gains with just chip tuning in general. Also, to make it more acceptable, some companies have created underdrive pulleys for the other stuff to make it give some HP so combined with underdrive pulleys, bigger crank pulley, chip tuning, I would be suprised if you got much more than 10HP, without the chip tuning, probably some nice kick in the middle but overal, no gains and possible losses due to heat and friction.

True, yet dyno'd 10-20 hp/tq gains from 3-4.5K makes daily driving a LOT more fun. Top end gains are only good for bragging and the drag strip.
