Exhaust

I was thinking if I cut off my whole exhaust, how much horsepower would I be gaining? I've heard around 15 hp to the wheel, does that sound about right?

Since the exhaust is part of the tuning of the engine, just cutting it off may well decrease hp. Many years ago, what you said was probably true of most US V8's. It is no longer true. CAFE regz and emissions regz require the manufacturers to pay attention to the exhaust of a part of the total engine package.

BTW, cutting off the exhaust is illegal. You will screw up the emissions, violate the laws about the where the exhaust exits (probably allowing carbon monoxide into the car), and you will **** off your neighbors with the noise.

Eisenmann 2.3/M111 review

Has anyone had any problems or changes in performance with an Eisenmann muffler on their 2.3/M111 engine?

Question Need Help for Choosing Aftermarket Exhaust

I want to get an aftermarket exhaust for my w203 C320sedan. But I don't know which one to get. I am looking for something not loud but have a very deep tone when I step hard on the gas. I heard that Brabus exhaust sounds great but is there anything else other than Brabus. I am having Carlsson wheels, so I don't want to put Brabus exhaust on my car. And also, I want to know what aftermarketexhaust will fit perfectly with AMG bumper.

Thank you,
Nico

I have a Kleemann on my C230 (coupe), it fits perfectly in the stock exhaust cut-out, for comparison. I think it sounds nice (not too loud, but not so diesel-like at idle as the stock one did). Its ~$750, which is cheaper than the Brabus, and the twin chrome tips are the best looking ones out there IMO.

Anyway I don't think you can go wrong with the Eisenmann/AMG/Brabus/Kleemann. For me it came down to price and what tip looked the best.

I would say Brabus...but every other chump has one now so I am discouraging it.

I say Eisenmann for now, since we keep lying to Enri, might as well play along with it ahhahahahahahhahahaa

How do the quad exhausts work?

Do they have a single muffler but two pipes that branch off a Y pipe? or do they use a inline muffler for the right side? How do they avoid the spare tire well? anyone got pics?

Why do you want to pay Brabus prices for a Remus muffler?

remus = rounded edge square
brabus = circle

that difference alone is enough for me to get brabus.

I'm pretty sure the Kleemann one is actually a Remus.. with oval tips.. see my sig or STF for pics, why pay the rediculous price tag for the Brabus when its the same thing?

So why would you buy Banana Republic when there is Old Navy and Gap?

Premier brand name but same manufacturer...go figure.

How about AMG? It seems that the price is cheaper than Kleemann and the dual oval tips is quite good.

I am also looking for the exhaust to get rid of the diesel-like engine sound at the rev below 2000 for my C200k (M111 engine). This sound is really annoy and make me think of driving a Toyata TAXI.

The quad exhaust I have uses a y-pipe from the muffler for the right side. Looks cool and with the rear valence you could not tell that there was only one muffler.
