W203/CL203 Aftermarket Exhaust Thread - All you want to know
Looking to upgrade muffler, but don't want to have to cut out rear valence or buy a new one....seems like most aftermarket mufflers have straight tips...looked at Brabus, Lorinser, Renntech, AMG...all have straight tips....anyone have any recommendations? Thanks.

2001 C240 / 6-speed
I have been looking into this for my C240. I have found the following:
- AMG is a muffler only, requires cutting existing pipes and welding on this new muffler as well as modifying the bumper skirt. It is $640.
- Eisenmann is a muffler only system, weld on, modify the skirt. It is about $600.
- Brabus is $1500. That is where I stopped.
- Super Sprint seems to really engineer their systems for true performance gain rather than just sound. They require no welding and no bumper skirt mods. They sell a muffler and resonator as separate pieces, clamp together. The down side is that it is about $950 system.
The major bummer of all of this is that a customer cannot hear or feel the differences without buying and installing the system. They should post .wav files of the exaust note and graphs of HP increases on their web pages.
All of that said, I am going with the SuperSprint when it becomes available in Feb.

Thanks,
I saw the Super Sprint mufflers myself also...but they did have any listed for the C240. There is another company, Fabspeed, I believe....they make custom mufflers for different cars...they have a wave file for their muffler on a Porsche.....thought that was cool...
but, I am still searching....thanks again for your help.

I checked the stock muffler....just checking into something that might help out with some performance....although it may be minimal.....have checked into different things to do to increase horsepower....thought freer flowing muffler would be a start....unfortunately...once you start modifiying the motor, you void the original warranty....so, I was looking for things that would not void the warranty and would be simple....thanks for your input.....

I am planning to upgrade the muffler system too. I was interested in AMG, Brabus and Remus. But after all the research, I believe I have to modify the bumper first. So I will not get a new muffler because I don't want to make any changes on the bumper. Now I will consider to buy a "CHROME EXHAUST TIP" instead. Of course,I know it will not work as good as a new muffler system. But at least it know better than the stock.
Anyone intesested in "CHROME EXHAUST TIP", please visit

Dual exhaust for a c-class consist of one muffler with dual tips. One tip stretches out to the other side. Two mufflers cant fit cuz of the tire. JoReL has that , you should go ask him for pix and info.

SORRY FUZZO...THE ONLY PIX I HAVE RIGHT NOW ARE THE CRAPPY ONES FROM THE OTHER POSTS'.
WELL THE ONLY WAY TO DO A DUAL "STYLE" EXHAUST WITHOUT TAKING OUT THE SPARE IS TO USE ONLY ONE MUFFLER. ITS NOT THE WAY I WANTED IT TO BE BUT I HAD NO CHOICE. WHAT I DID WAS CHANGE THE PIPES AND MUFLLER. THE MUFFLER HAD TWO TIPS THAT SPLIT AND RAN UNDER THE BUMPER. (LOOKING LIKE A DUAL EXHAUST. THE ONLY THING I DONT LIKE BOUT THE TIPS IS THAT IT COMES DOWN SO U CANT SEE THE MUFFLER....ALMOST LIKE THE CHROME TIPS EVERYONE IS BUYING. FEEL FREE TO ASK ANYMORE QUESTIONS.
heres the crappy quality pix again....ITS REALLY CHROME OK!

It looks like Carlsson 1/6 there. It MIGHT have the Carlsson dual exhaust for the C-class.
But personally, I dont like the fender covering the rear wheels. Just not what a MB should look!

Out Of Control!!
I really don't like those rims! They remind me of the big silver discs that we used as a kid to sled down hills in the winter. I'm not a "huge tire" fan to start with which probably adds to my dislike.
Not sure about my opinion of the exaust. I think I'd have to see it straight on from the rear to have a better opinion.
Thanks for posting the pics.

I think the car looks nice. I wonder what size those rims are. They are really BIG. I wonder how his ride is. Nice exhausts. At the LA Auto show last year they had 3 C class W203 with quad exhaust. Too bad I didnt take a picture of them. They were pretty nice.
