It's a nice quiet muffler, a decent replacement if you are having trouble with your factory muffler. After a few months it will become as loud as stock with a slightly deeper rumble but you have to have your windows open or be in an indoor parking structure to tell as it's very subtle. A better muffler is the Super Sprint or Eisenmann for a little more rumble.

Magnaflow is f***ing loud, not to mention the droning, you'll lose a bit of power down below but very decent gain at high RPM (at least from my butt dyno). Would it be possible to open up the magnaflow and stuff more sound deadening??

Sure, glasspacks like that are much cheaper, louder and provide the best performance but then you have to change the packing or replace the muffler when they packing is shot. There are a bunch of nice stainless mufflers on ebay for cheap, $50-75 and I've heard one on a Golf in my neighborhood and it sounded good but the problem is a constant drone at highway speeds that would drive most people bonkers. I did the quieter Magnaflows on my Suburban and it was soooo annoying, this constant hum all the time.
But consider that the MB muffler is tucked in pretty good and that will require custom mandrel bent tubing. You're going to spend probably as much making a generic muffler fit than it's worth. I think the generic Remus can be had for $289 if you own a mandrel bender and welder to make it fit. Here's a link to the generic Remus mufflers. Don't worry about the tip as it has to come off anyway to make it fit.

So,Mr.Buellwinkle,
basically that leaves the Schatz tip $100, Resonator removal and replaced with stainless pipe $100 for a total of $200-$250........Is this the least expensive quality set up for someone like me with 2 curved pipes angled down?

Drew, the tips would give the look of an aftermarket exhaust. Haven't heard what the car would sound like without the resonator but it's bound to be slightly louder. Back in my Harley days, I bought an aftermarket exhaust that was loud but I never really liked the way it sounded, just loud. My buddy took a 2" hole saw and went down the middle of his factory muffler. His sounded better and only cost $5.

do the 320 have the resonator? but yeah, take that off if you do. It should give you some extra grunt before you get the exhaust.

As for the rear lip, I'm not picky so it will depend more on price.
