W203/CL203 Aftermarket Exhaust Thread - All you want to know
Straight pipe replaced cat? replaced resonator? straight pipe all the way from after cat to the muffler canister? Any pics, thanks !
this somewhat sounds pretty tough, Straight pipe meaning replacing the resonator, and also the guy at the muffler shop cut off the pipe that connects the rear silencer to the resonator, and replaced it with a 2" stainless steel one.
the increase in "power" is very minimal, maybe 2-3hp with the k&n. I did a test and threw in the paper fold filter and the exhaust note is somewhat lower than one with the k&n. cant wait till i get a new rear silencer!
Thanks
also, im interested in seeing how it looks on your 05 rear bumper. any pics?
Thanks
i just ordered the race version and its coming on monday.
i really hope it doesnt sound like a honda ricer muffler.
please post some sound clips so i can hear it.
thanks

(( the video clip was taking in a garage with all doors closed so , so dont go on crazy saying """OMG OMG its to loud"""" cuz its not loud
After about 500-1000 miles, it does get quieter. Of course, I've got a Supersprint header and Magnaflow cat, so I'm running a bit louder.
I'm not sure how you didn't know it was loud, though?
I doubt they'd let you get a refund, and I don't know why they would.
Though the ones I heard do sound pretty good and not rice at all.

The OPs post about it sounding like a rice rocket is the result of an exhaust on a 4. Everyone swears theirs sounds different, but I have yet to hear one without the waspy sound. You hear it in the video clip as well...for a second or two it gets very high pitched.

Now, mind you the car is not in motion so the rev limiter is on. You get this raspyness in the upper end of the powerband...4K and higher...you should really hear it near redline and shifting...something you can't hear on the video because it's not in motion. So essentially this the weakest part of it.
The sound on a 4 isn't for everyone...some love it, some (like me and OP) hate it.
