Interesting what was said on those threads and the posts were made by people I know and have met personally. The ONLY thing that I could think would cause enough back pressure to damage your engine would be if the piping on the 230K was much smaller than the piping on the C32. I don't think anybody has measured or takin' an accurate measurement of the dimensions between the 2 models. Either way, the AMG muffler is designed for a supercharged v6 engine (yes), however, if that were to cause enough back pressure to damage the supercharged i4 engine, I can't even imagine what all the REMUS, EISENMANN, SUPERSPRINT, ETC... mufflers will do because a lot of those were designed specifically for the 240/320 engines, not the 230. I know there are people who have purchased mufflers that were previously on a 240/320 (v6 engine) and it worked fine with the 230K SS.

Here's the thing, if you're worried about this happening. Don't change to an AMG muffler. Just get a stock 230K SS muffler (post a WTB: OEM 2004.5 + 230k SS muffler). It's funny because ever since I came on here 2 years ago, whenever people talk about exhausts it boggles my mind how many people are really just referring to the muffler. Whenever I think "exhaust," I think full exhaust (including piping) from the cat-back (bare minimum).

Even some of the major MB tuners refer to an "exhaust" upgrade as just a muffler replacement...LOL. Really weird, but I've gotten used to the lingo.

No drowning sound inside or outside the car at all. The only time it's louder than stock is when you step on the gas pedal hard or WOT. Other than that, it's just like stock.

LOL.. Thanks for the explanation Drex

I actually like SS muffler better than AMG muffler, but I do not have a valence on my rear bumper and I think my rear bumper will look ugly if I install SS muffler without making my own valence. That is why I wanted to buy AMG muffler not SS muffler.

Regarding the piping,I think my car has around 2.25' - 2.5' pipe down there if I am not mistaken. I had magnaflow on my car before and I believe the inlet/outlet of the muffler is 2.25'.

Drex,do you know anyone here in the forum has an AMG muffler on their C230?

Thanks again.

Nick..

yes.

once again there are no specific designed exhaust for different engine spec for the W203 other than the 55 since it has a dual muffler setup.

If that's the case, look at my car. I don't have a 2005 valance, but the muffler is the same as the 2005-present models. I have the chrome oval tip and everything, just with the SS valance, so you'll be okay if you go that route.

The Supersprint muffler and resonator were designed to be used on the C230, M111 engine. Not sure what your getting at to be honest with you.

You can check it out yourself by visiting the Supersprint web page. Sorry, I do not have any sound bites but do have photos........just have to dig them out.

AS I said: It's a full Cat-back, stainless steel, mandrel bend system including resonator and muffler. According the Chris (with Supersprint) the system adds approx 4 hp and 6 to 8 lb/ft of torque. The sound? Rich and deep.

Sorry Drex, don't really understand what you meant.

One thing for sure,my bumper is nothing like yours. My bumper does not have a valence at all.Maybe,I should take some rear pics of my car, so that I can explain it better to you

Look at my signature links. I have some rear pics. the 2003-2004.5 body kit is the same accross the board. The rear may even be the same with the 2001-2004 luxury cars. I don't have the AMG kit, but since I have a 2004.5, I have the same sport muffler as the 2005-present models.

I'm basically saying that the sport muffler with the polished oval tip will work.

EDIT - After looking at some of the luxury models, the rear valance is slightly different from the sport rear valance. Looks like if you get the sport muffler you'll have to cut the rear valance if you want to swap.

all the 2007 sport in US have the same exhaust. Sebring no longer makes their own exhaust, so whatever that was left before Remus took it over is probably why it's making way onto all the new 2007 sport sedans.

Frank, isn't Sebring the parent company of Remus and not vice-versa? I could've sworn it was like that and Remus was geared toward North America sales. I could be wrong, but I remember reading about it somewhere.

Anyone with Eisenmann Sport Exhaust

I'm still unsure if I wanna go with Race or Sport version. I have heard alot about the RAce version but almost nothing about the Sport. What do you guys say Sport or Race????? If anyone has a Sport version, how does it sound like on a 04 C230K SS???

Thanks to you all....

Dont want to burst your bubble, but almost everyone that has eisenmann here has the race version, i dont recall any sport versions.

but i do recall, theres this one version thats discontinued. it was between sport and race.

the race cost maybe less than 200$ more than the sport, might as well.

In your car:

Race: Muffler + Sound Pipe
Sport: Muffler + Resonator

The sound pipe is not expensive and the resonator comes standar un the sport version.

I would sugest to get the sport and the soundpipe (+60$), then install the muffler and resonator and drive 1500km, if then you want more sound swap the resonator for the sound pipe.

Best Regards.
