parking brake adjustment
A while ago one of the parking brake cabels came out of its mountig thingy.
I did not have time for it so I left it like that.
My lovely whife drove the car last week and she called me that the parking brake alarm would not go off. Aparantly the brake got stocked pressed down. I tryed to lift the pedal but it was geting pulled back down. Not a lot, but just as much to trigger the parking brake alarm.
This week I took the right back wheel off the car, I took the disk off and somehow I mannaged to plug the cabel back to where it belongs. I put everything back and it worked just fine.
Until today when I aplied the brake again and it snaped out again.
I hate the stupid thing. It took me about 4 hours to fix it. Now what?
If you guys have any sugestions on how to adjust, tighten the cabels I would realy apreciate it.

So in conclusion I will not ask a question on the forum untill I searched it. I usually get all the info I need here so I will wait until someone that knows my answer will be willing to help.
Thank you.
Buell knows his cars and he helped members a lot all the time in the past, so I know that if he sees this he will let me know.
Under the rear seat, there's an access hatch in the middle of the car, remove it and you'll see the adjustment nut.
Is your pedal slightly loose, or goes to the floor with no pressure? If the later, adjusting won't work. The cable has come off one of the rear brakes, its a common problem with the design of the parking brake on the W203. Jack up the car and get under it, should be easy enough to spot.

The cable on the pasenger side wheel is disconected from the middle bracket. I reatatched it monday working like an idiot and taking off the whole brake (disk) on the right rear wheel. I released the cable from the wheel and reatatched at the middle holder thingy. Then I put everything back. It did not last to long. Friday it came off again. That is when I posted here for help.
Now that I know about the hatch under the seat I feel more releassed. I think that I know what I have to do.
Because of the cables beeing so lose, whenever I was pulling the parking brake pedall up, the right side cable was moveing medially and then when the brake was being reapplied it would come out of that socket.
I adjusted the screw and it worked fine after that.
Now whenever I release the parking brake the pedall pops up and the light in the dash board goes away without the need of lifting the pedall. It is nice and tight.
C230sportcoupe thank you for the assistance.
Cool

I park on a hill, and after putting in park, pushing the ebrake to the floor, and
releasing the regular brake, the car lurches forward. I've taken to pushing the ebrake very hard, and it goes to the floor pretty much.
Perhaps I could benefit from adjusting from under the seat, and avoid
problems with the cables coming undone?
Hmmmm.....
I'll take a look at that. See if I can find this access point under the seat.
Anyone have a pic?

Never fun fishing cables through a car.
Did a throttle cable on my old X19 one time, had to pull the seats....
get it through the center tunnel.
PIA. That was mid engine though, but this would likely be a similar job.
Buell, why would anyone every need to change the parking brake?
As long as it's not driven with it on, it should never wear out, no?

If one of the cables is out of the holder release the "y" holder screw and reattach the cable back into the place it came out.
