Age of MB drivers who foot the bill
I am more interested now in how many people are actually buying/leasing the MB themselves, and how many have gotten it as a gift, or really it doesn't belong to them (spouse/parents/family member/friend)
For now if you could state your age only if you're the person footing all the bills for the car, maybe we'll see the ages start to rise.
It doesn't matter if you're leasing or buying, as long as your name is the one on the cheque.
OH, and NO COSIGNER. The goal of this poll is to see who is actually buying thier MB themselves, not dependant on anyone else for any kind of help (I should include insurance payments too... ).
Why this poll? I used to drive Ma and Pa's Jaguar and Corvette, and am about to receive my own MB. I recently started a career in the high tech industry, so I could afford to put up the extra cash for a huge downpayment so I wouldn't have a cosigner. Being a young person, I hate when people look and say "spoiled rich kid", when I worked damn hard and can proudly say this is MY MB.
I hoping to find others who have the same pride in what they drive.

Any way you word it, you're probably not going to get accurate poll numbers.
i'm 21. i work hard so i can earn nice things.
If someone "works real hard so he can afford nice things," that's great. If that person's 21, though, it is unlikely he's supporting kids or a mortgage. For example if anyone (this is not directed at session personally, his response just shows the dichotomy) lives at home or college, or generally has their life's necessities taken care of, they need only make $10-15K net a year to float the car payment, insurance gas, and all the Zaino they can use.
So, taylor192, what is is you are trying to elicit? The age of the owner or the amount of disposable income?

Disposable income is your own choice, if you have a wife, kids and a mortgage, you made your choice. I'm 23, I could be married, looking for a house, but instead I made the choice to buy a car and pay off my student loan in 2 years rather than 20, that $1K student loan payment every month hurts.
Maybe I should've specified NO COSIGNER, that way you can't just live at home an have M&D foot the bill for everything else, you'll have gotten the MB on your credit alone (which is hard, MBCC is very hard, I had to leave a huge downpayment to get away from a cosigner).
Sure if you're making $10-15K/year you can afford it, but no way MBCC will let you drive it off the lot without some insurance, like a huge downpayment or a cosigner.
I think this would address Tommy's point too.
Never thought of it that way guys, thanks for the opinion, I'll edit the thread.
Wasn't criticizing, so much as trying to understand whether age was truly the demo you were looking for, since you were trying to add qualifiers to a long-standing age poll. I'm not saying that folks who have a mortgage to pay for are any better or worse off, I was just pointing out that the unique situation of "kids" (meaning college age or younger people who live with their parents) who drive an MB are not anything close to a cross-section of the population, whereas a 35 year old person who can afford a $27-30K car, in this economy, are a lot more plentiful.
Guys, I know these polls are all informal and really to satisfy the curiosity of the poll's author, but I don't see real info coming out of this one.

Oh, 24, and I've paid for my last few cars...and all their trimmings and living expenses

i didn't vote, but I am 18, but what you're saying is that even though i pay for my college with my money (earning from working, i started like 2 months after turning 16) and i pay my insurance, my clothes, my food, and my car, because i live with my parents, i don't qualify for the poll?
1. $2K + monthly mortgage,
2. college savings - for the kid(s)
3. multiple vehicle loans
4. insurance on said vehicles and mortgage
5. various retirement savings plans
6. nice selection of CC bills
7. family medical insurance (i'm a private consultant, so I PAY for that)
...etc....
I think the question then becomes; what is the age of those who purchased their Mercedes, with several qualifying factors?
Who knows? It's not my poll, and as I read this, I sound like a jealous 30 something who wishes he had a Benz in his early 20's.
Good for those of you who do pay for your own! Even if you do need a booster seat! Come on.....JUST KIDDING!!!
i absolutely hate rich spoiled kids. I went to highschool with upper class kids that mom and dad bought bmw's and brand new mustangs for them. The student parking lot had better cars than the teachers. I had a 87 samurai completely rusted out that i bought for $650. But it built character for me. Thats why i drive the new benzes and they don't. (that plus the mortgage business is doing so good. If it stays good hopefully i can get a clk next!)
MBCC isn't really hard to get...they use your credit rating just like everywhere else...they have a four tier level system. Even people who have a rating of 600 or lower can get one, they just need to pay a much higher interest rate.
MBCC demanded I leave $8K (CND) as a deposit to not have a cosigner because of my "lack of credit history" even though I started a job 5 months ago making $67K/year and only have expenses of $400/month for rent.
So really I don't know how anyone making even $40-50K can get the credit approval to buy this car without having been at a job a long time, or had a substantial previous purchase... or was MBCC just giving me the run-around? I contacted private leasing companies and they said basically the same as MBCC said... so I didn't think so.

Realistically, I could afford a 2003 Porsche Boxster S, a used Ferrari/Lotus/NSX or something even more ridiculous if I had a cosigner, cause $1000-1500/month (CND) is nothing to me right now. BUT on my credentials alone, NO dealership in the world would sell me any car priced above $50K because of my age and lack of credit (if I lost my job, I have no assets to use against the price of the car.. ie a house).
My only complaint is one I've heard many times... if you need a cosigner, realistically you wouldn't beable to be driving the car you are, and you're living off someone else's credentials, not your's... that's why I went to such lengths to not have a cosigner... I want to start living off my credentials.
Besides, I'll say it again, this poll is not very "accurate" but the age categories do show a nice spread of owners, indicating MBs are actually being bought by a wide range of owners, not the typical 50+ as was the trend 5-10 years ago.
