Stick It Where It Belongs!!

Hello.
Just bought a removal tool to take out the HU of my '03 C240. I have no clue where to insert it. I have seen some HUs with slots on the radio face but I can't seem to find it on mine. Did STFF but to no avail. Please help!! Thanks for the input.

LMAOROTF...... please... search the forum for longer than 30 seconds. You can't just pull it out FYI. Do a search and pull up how to take apart center dash. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply.
I did a STF before posting--there was a good post from 'Session' about removal/install: https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...threadid=13302

I bought the tool hoping I would not have to remove the dash & was also hoping somebody else used this tool removing this 'specific' HU model...w/c I had trouble finding a post about.

Going by your reply...I guess this tool is useless for this HU model w/o a slot on the face. Guess I'm down a couple of bucks then.Bummer!
Thanks for your time.

you bought the wrong tool, this is the only one that can remove the headunit.

haha. okay, to remove the headunit, you have to take off the upper vent. turn the vent all the way up and remove 2 torx screws inside the vent. then take off the trim piece. you have to pry down 2 clips on the bottom of the trim. after thats off, remove the 2 torx screws taht hold in the radio, and unplug the wires. its a little scary at first, but now i can do it in 5 minutes

I think using a pry bar was a joke but you never know. There are no shortcuts as the radio is held in with 2 torx screws and the only access to them is behind the panel. There are no shortcuts to removing the panel and for it to be reusable after the radio is remove, you have to remove the top center vents as the screws holding the vent and holding the panel are the same and the vents block you from removing the panel. Then the easy part is releasing the 2 clips at the bottom of the vent. It's sad to say but not only have you wasted money on those radio removal tools, but in the time you wasted paying for them you could have had your radio out. What part of the world are you in, maybe someone on the forum can help you if you get stuck. Don't toss those keys aways, they work great on the older MBs, R170 SLK, W210 E-Class, etc.
